Habits of Character

Here at Summit View, these 6 Habits of Character help shape who we are as a community in school and beyond.

Integrity – I am true to the person I am. I reflect on my behaviors, my passions and my struggles. I own my mistakes. I tell the truth. I take pride in doing the right thing.

1. I can be proud of who I am and reflect about what makes me, me.

2. I can be accountable for my work and behavior, including my mistakes.

3. I can tell the truth.

Compassion – I use kind and helpful words, and actions, with my crewmates to make sure that every person can experience success. I am mindful of others and care as much about them as I do myself.

2. I can imagine what it is like to be in someone else’s shoes.

Impact – I am mindful of how my actions affect others and the world. I take care of the environment around me. I am grateful for the things I have and think of ways to be of service to others who may not have as much. I work to make a positive impact on my crewmates, my school and the world.

Craftsmanship – I take pride in my work. My work and effort show that I am building towards the learning target. I use feedback to make my work better.

1. I can create high quality work using rubrics and criteria.

3. I can give quality feedback to improve my crewmate’s work.

Grit – I set goals for my myself and my work. When I struggle or face challenges, I do not give up. I have a growth mindset. When I get frustrated, I show perseverance because I know I can get there. I am passionate about my work and celebrate when I reach my goals.
