Literacy Footprints Jan Richardson has compiled materials for reading levels A-N for intervention. She has provided teaching materials to work through the three components of the reading strategies to ensure all are covered during the three rotations. Many of the stories will be used for more than one day due to their length. Classroom teachers will also use her materials for their progress monitoring as students throughout the year.
Specialized Program Individualizing Reading Excellence (SPIRE) For our first and second grade students are in need of a strong phonic component as the basis for the stories. SPIRE is a systematic program that will build a dependable foundation for phonics that will help unlock the code for students and give them tools needed to be able to handle the other texts they will encounter within the classroom. We are hoping to purchase additional levels to support students as they progress.
Assessments A variety of assessments are used to determine a students reading ability and are given periodically. The following assessments will be used as needed:
