These will continually be updated by Mr. Hizer and the choir leadership team to fit the identity of our choir as it continues to grow and develop.
Commitment Statement
We commit to cultivating a strong culture, a healthy climate, and a genuine sense of community because excellence thrives when people are respected, supported, and meaningfully connected.
Mission Statement
Mountain Vista Choirs’ mission is to encourage growth in each person. We grow together through a community where we are present with each other and challenge each other to be the best version of themselves, all through the life-changing art of choral music.
Why we believe students should take choir
Choir is a place for every person, no matter their talent or experience. Students should join choir to be a part of something bigger than themselves; to participate in a group that makes better versions of themselves while also making incredible music. The community doesn’t start and end in the choir room. The room is the location where relationships and ideas blossom and which are then carried into Mountain Vista, their communities, and their future endeavors.

Excellence
As a choir, we choose to never settle when it comes to the integrity of our performance, both in concert and rehearsal. We commit to each other that we will work not to be better than anyone else, but to be better versions of ourselves every day.
Authenticity
We acknowledge that we are all different people and lift that up. We all bring different perspectives, backgrounds, and outlooks to life and to the music we perform. We not only accept, but encourage difference, knowing that it can lead to deeper connection and help us understand each other and the world more completely.
Enjoyable Community
We believe that choir is one of the best communities you can be a part of. Amidst the chaos we experience in our everyday lives, choir provides an escape where you can engage in community and experience a little bit of peace. We work hard and play just as hard.
Belonging
We strive to create an environment and a culture where everyone feels seen and supported. We believe that belonging brings communities to life, and we emphasize it in the music we program and in the classroom culture we’ve built.
