Violin
One of the most recognizable string orchestra instruments, the violin is generally one of the most defining members of the string family. The violins carry the melody, particularly the first violins. The second violins will often support the first violins’ harmony by playing it in a lower pitch, but frequently get to switch and play melody too. The violins can also frame the music being played elsewhere in the group by playing a countermelody, or providing a rhythmic or harmonic support to the melody.
Depending on the students ability level and size, the violin can be purchased in different sizes to fit the player.
