Thank you for choosing to participate in Orchestra at Mesa!
The Beginning String Orchestra class at Mesa Middle School is designed to meet the needs of students who are brand new to a string orchestra instrument or those who currently have limited experience on their string instrument. Throughout the 1st/2nd semester, we will take a step by step process to learning the ins and outs of our instruments including proper posture and bow hold, bow articulation, note recognition, music reading, individual and full string orchestra performing, as well as numerous concerts throughout the school year. We also engage regularly in performances and fun activities with the high school music program. We will use a comprehensive string method book as our guide, and supplement full string orchestra sheet music along the way. By the time students have completed 2 semesters of beginning string orchestra, they will have achieved roughly that of 2 years experience on their instrument.
Regular home practice and participation in all scheduled performances is required. Parents will need to provide their student with an instrument (either through purchase or rental from store or school), the class music method book, various supplies, and concert attire.
