HELPFUL LINKS

We will use many different internet sites and apps during our year. We will try to keep this list updated as frequently as possible.

Many of the sites we use have an option to log in "with Google." When this option exists, we have used it. These sites have been marked with a "G" in parentheses next to the site name. To make logging in to these sites easier, your student should sign into their email account first, then log into the site in question.

Your student's email account is accessible at mail.google.com. Their log in is the last name, first initial, middle initial@s.dcsdk12.org (for example: smithzx@s.dcsdk12.org). In rare cases, their may be a single digit number that follows their name, as well. Their case sensitive password is Dcsd****** where the asterisks are their 6-digit ID number (lunch number). Email is to be used for school business ONLY - it is not a personal email account.

Links

Google Apps

    • Gmail
    • Google Drive (G) - also available from the mail page, through the little "waffle" icon in the upper right (nine little boxes). From here, students can access all of their docs, slides, images, et cetera.
    • Google Classroom (G) - frequently used to push out assignments, directions, rubrics, new websites, and communicate in general.

Non-Google Sites

  • Math
    • Pearson Realize (EnVision)
    • Khan Academy (G) - self paced math (and a bunch of other subjects) with instructional videos from preschool to college... for FREE! This is a great resource for extra practice, remediation, and acceleration.

  • Social Studies
    • TCi - note that this login is case sensitive and also requires Mr. Colson's email address which is kwcolson@dcsdk12.org

  • Literacy
    • i-Ready - instructional work and assessments for reading
    • Newsela (G) - This site takes selected news articles and allows the reader to alter the complexity of the text. We use it to supplement our reading instruction - annotating our thoughts, checking our comprehension, and responding to articles in writing.
    • Readworks (G) -
    • Time4Kids - Time magazine's kids edition. Broken down by grade level bands and updated weekly.

Additional Sites

Below you will find links to other sites to which your child has access. Though likely not used at school (and if so, rarely), they can be valuable tools to use at home.

  • EPIC! Books
    • Interactive e-books at most levels.
    • Class Code for Mr. Colson: vwu9552
    • Class Code for Mrs. Hamby:
  • Overdrive
    • A service of the Douglas County Public Library in partnership with DCSD, Overdrive is an e-book library accessible through a student's school access information.
  • Prodigy - Online math instruction in a video game format.
