Dear CVHS Students & Parents:

My name is Jeanne Johnson. My students call me Ms. Hamm or Ms. Johnson. This is my 11th year of teaching and 9th year teaching ESL. I have spent the majority of my career teaching students who speak multiple languages or who have various learning disabilities. Before finding a home at CV, I taught 7th grade English and ESL in Denver Public Schools where I created curriculum for other 7th grade teachers, helped implement 1:1 technology, and supported teachers who had never taught ESL before.

As a learner, I like to move, write, and practice what I've learned, so in my classroom I love to incorporate movement, manipulatives (such as word sorts, vocab games, or cootie catching) and technology into my classroom. Thus, please do not be surprised if your child comes home telling you that they stood on chairs, took laps around the room, high-fived TONS, or shouted out random bits of information. It's all part of learning.

In addition to teaching, I love running, binge watching TV series on Netflix, and photography. I am addicted to gum, chapstick, and pens. You will NEVER see me without these items. My special skills include: #vocab!, making each day a celebration, and overusing JK.

I have three girls-- Mac, 10, Hailee, 9, and Ainsley, 9. These ladies are the loves of my life, and you will probably see them a few times this year, for they love coming to school with me and playing teacher. We also have two cats-- Belle and Mr. Shickadance-- and a 9 week old puppy, Roxie.

Please feel free to contact me at any time. I will generally respond within minutes or 24 hours at the latest. Texting or emailing are the most immediate means of contact for me, for I can multi-task motherhood and teaching with ease.

Happy 2019-2020 School Year!!

Ms. Johnson (Ms. Hamm)
