Meet Emmie Rooney:

Hi!  I was born in Iowa and absolutely love the Iowa Hawkeyes!  My family moved to Colorado when I was in First Grade so I grew up in Castle Rock and went all the way through Douglas County Schools.  I graduated with a bachelor's degree from Metro State College and went on to get my master's degree through Regis University. When I began my teaching career 28 years ago at Sedalia Elementary, I knew I had found a great place to be! I have taught third grade,  second grade and landed in first-which I absolutely love!  I have gotten to know many families through the years and love have former students as parents now!  Sedalia is a great place to be! I love the people I work with and the kids I see every day!  

My husband, Neil, and I have three boys and four dogs!  Our house is loud and busy! Hudson, is our oldest and going off to play basketball in college at Southwesten Universtiy in Georgoetown, Texas.  Grayson is a sophomore at Mountain Vista High School, and Quinn is an 8th grader at Mountain Ridge Middle School!  My three boys spent all of their elementary years at Sedalia Elementary! I love spending time with my family and getting outdoors to do fun things.  We play a lot of sports, but basketball is our favorite! 

I love teaching and will take good care of your child all year long!  I treat my class like family-with love and respect. We are one big family, who will depend on each other all year long.  Please email me anytime with any questions or concerns.

¡Hola! Nací en Iowa y soy fanática de los Iowa Hawkeyes. Mi familia se mudó a Colorado cuando estaba en primer grado, así que crecí en Castle Rock y estudié en las escuelas del condado de Douglas. Me gradué con una licenciatura de Metro State College y luego obtuve mi maestría en la Universidad Regis. Cuando comencé mi carrera docente hace 28 años en la Escuela Primaria Sedalia, ¡supe que había encontrado el lugar perfecto! He enseñado tercer y segundo grado, y ahora estoy en primero, ¡que me encanta! ¡Me encanta la gente con la que trabajo y los niños que veo todos los días!

Mi esposo, Neil, y yo tenemos tres hijos y cuatro perros. ¡Nuestra casa es ruidosa y bulliciosa! Hudson, el mayor, se va a jugar baloncesto a la Universidad Southwestern en Georgetown, Texas. Grayson cursa el segundo año de preparatoria en Mountain Vista High School, y Quinn está en octavo grado en Mountain Ridge Middle School. ¡Mis tres hijos cursaron toda la primaria en Sedalia Elementary! I am Ms. Campbell, and I am so thrilled to be teaching your child this year! I am a native Texan, attended college in Texas, and have spent much of my teaching career in the state of Texas. I am incredibly excited to now call Colorado home and to be part of the Sedalia Elementary community!

One of the things I love most about teaching first grade is watching students become READERS! First grade is such a magical year of growth, discovery, and confidence, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of that journey. I believe first grade teachers have a wonderful opportunity to help children develop not only strong academic skills, but also a genuine love of learning.

My goal is to help each student become a lifelong learner while developing the character trait of GRIT—the combination of perseverance and passion for long-term goals. I want my students to learn the importance of staying committed, working hard, and pushing through challenges and setbacks, even when progress feels slow. I believe that an attitude of optimism, combined with a strong sense of GRIT, helps children become confident, capable, and compassionate human beings.

Most importantly, I want my classroom to be a place where every child feels safe, valued, encouraged, and loved. I believe children learn best when they know their teacher believes in them and when they feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, asking questions, and trying again.

When I am not teaching at Sedalia, you can usually find me spending time with my two sons. We are likely riding bikes, fishing, bowling, playing games, watching our latest Netflix series, or simply laughing together!

Teaching is my passion and the only career I have ever truly wanted. I feel incredibly blessed to be beginning this new chapter at Sedalia Elementary.

I promise to know your child, celebrate their growth, encourage them through challenges, and make sure they know each and every day that they are seen, heard, valued, and loved in our classroom.

Soy la Sra. Campbell, ¡y estoy encantada de ser la maestra de su hijo/a este año! Soy originaria de Texas, estudié en la universidad de Texas y he dedicado gran parte de mi carrera docente a este estado. ¡Me emociona muchísimo llamar a Colorado mi hogar y formar parte de la comunidad de la Escuela Primaria Sedalia!

Una de las cosas que más me gusta de enseñar primer grado es ver a los estudiantes convertirse en LECTORES. Primer grado es un año mágico de crecimiento, descubrimiento y confianza, y me siento increíblemente afortunada de ser parte de este camino. Creo que los maestros de primer grado tenemos una maravillosa oportunidad de ayudar a los niños a desarrollar no solo sólidas habilidades académicas, sino también un verdadero amor por el aprendizaje.

Mi objetivo es ayudar a cada estudiante a convertirse en un aprendiz de por vida, desarrollando la cualidad de la PERSEVERANCIA: la combinación de perseverancia y pasión por alcanzar metas a largo plazo. Quiero que mis estudiantes aprendan la importancia de mantenerse comprometidos, trabajar duro y superar los desafíos y contratiempos, incluso cuando el progreso parezca lento. Creo que una actitud optimista, combinada con una gran PERSEVERANCIA, ayuda a los niños a convertirse en personas seguras de sí mismas, capaces y compasivas.

Lo más importante para mí es que mi aula sea un lugar donde cada niño se sienta seguro, valorado, motivado y querido. Creo que los niños aprenden mejor cuando saben que su maestro cree en ellos y cuando se sienten cómodos arriesgándose, cometiendo errores, haciendo preguntas y volviendo a intentarlo.

Cuando no estoy dando clases en Sedalia, normalmente me encontrarán pasando tiempo con mis dos hijos. Probablemente estemos andando en bicicleta, pescando, jugando a los bolos, jugando a juegos de mesa, viendo nuestra última serie de Netflix o simplemente riéndonos juntos.

La enseñanza es mi pasión y la única profesión que siempre he deseado. Me siento increíblemente afortunada de comenzar esta nueva etapa en la Escuela Primaria Sedalia.

Prometo conocer a su hijo, celebrar su crecimiento, animarlo ante los desafíos y asegurarme de que sepa, cada día, que es visto, escuchado, valorado y querido en nuestra aula.

¡Estoy muy emocionada por un año maravilloso juntos!
