👋 Hello, and welcome!
My name is Kyra Burnett, and I am the new Doddridge County High School Counselor! I am originally from Hedgesville, WV where I graduated from Musselman High School in 2014. I graduated from undergrad in 2018 with a Bachelor's in Psychology from Fairmont State University. I then spent a few years in Morgantown, WV where I graduated from West Virginia University with a Master's in Counseling with a focus on School Counseling in 2020 before settling down in Bridgeport, WV. Currently, I am also a girls head basketball coach at Bridgeport Middle School and an Adjunct Professor at West Virginia University! In my spare time, you'll probably find me writing a new story, reading a good book, or doing some sort of physical activity like biking or hiking!
I'm very excited to get started this school year! If you ever need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out. Use the access code ZTRW-X97K-X9CZ4 to be added to the Schoology group for updates!
Confidentiality: A student’s right to privacy and confidentiality is the basis for an effective counseling relationship. A school counselor's primary obligation for confidentiality is to the student, but this obligation is balanced with an understanding of parents'/guardians' legal and inherent right to guide and make decisions on their student's behalf. Confidentiality ensures that school counselors won’t share students’ disclosures with others except when the student or parent/guardian authorizes it or when there is an evident danger to the student and/or to other persons.
