Yesterday I Had the Blues- by Jeron Ashford Frame
This is a great book that teaches students about moods and how they can change from day to day. You never know what tomorrow will bring, but when you've got love around you, the blues won't stick around long.
Ma Dear's Aprons- by Patricia C. McKissack
This story is a perfect illustration between a mother and her son and tells the story of how the mother purposely wears a different apron for each day of the week except for Sunday when it's a no-chore day, a day to go to Church.
In My Momma's Kitchen- by Jerdine Nolen
I like this book because it reminds me of my grandmother and aunts cooking in the kitchen and spending quality time telling stories and reminiscing about times long ago. The storyteller says that everything good that happens in her house happens in her momma's kitchen.
