Science Standards

The New York State Education Department has adopted science standards for grades PreK through twelve based on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) or national science standards. The full version of the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS) can be found here. Although there is an addition of the PreK grade level to the standards in the NYS document, the NGSS has a great resource on a website that is searchable according to Administrator, Teacher or Community member. Be advised that using the NGSS for the creation of curriculum, one should still have a copy of the NYSSLS on hand to ensure that the proper standards are being implemented in the classroom.

Next Generation Science Standards

The book, "Next Generation Science Standards: For States, By States" (2013), can be downloaded for free as a PDF file from the National Academies Press website. There is also a ton of other free online books that are used as resources in creating curriculum or assessments from the NGSS.
