This six-month program engages students with one monthly in-person session and assignments that enhance learning through relevant projects, research, writing, and composition. It closely aligns with the New York State Portrait of a Graduate strategy, enhancing hands-on learning that inspires creativity and problem-solving, promotes critical thinking, and prepares students to succeed in the workplace.
Multiple cohorts will be available. Under the Enrichment Co-Ser 409, any school can enroll students and staff. Students will learn skills that help build strong relationships, improve communication, and increase customer satisfaction. The Essential Workforce Program enhances problem-solving abilities, boosts confidence, and promotes a positive work environment. Mastering these skills can lead to better job performance, career advancement, and stronger connections.

Which students benefit most from this program?
Students wishing to enter the workplace immediately after completing high school are the best candidates for this program, as it will help them prepare to apply and perform better in the workplace. However, all students can benefit from this program, as it prepares them for college and life after high school.
What’s included in this program?
This program includes in-person college sessions with the instructor and materials, lunch, workbooks, and other student materials.
Who provides transportation?
School districts transport students to the program, arriving and departing at the designated time. With appropriate permission, parent pickup is possible. These exceptions to transportation arrangements must be confirmed in writing with the instructor at least 24 hours before the in-person session.
How will special accommodations be handled?
The school representative must discuss any special needs and coordinate with the instructor regarding any accommodations.
What is the policy for handheld devices?
The policies established by school districts will be respected. Cellphones and handheld communication devices will not be allowed. All students will have access to the college's telephone communications for emergencies.
What are the tools required for students to participate in this program?
Students must bring their own internet-enabled devices to access the college's internet, which is available for students in in-person sessions.
What is the emergency plan?
Schools must provide an Emergency Contact Sheet for each student. SUNY Morrisville will follow the approved emergency plan to handle these unexpected situations.
What is the attendance policy?
To receive the completion certificate, students must have perfect attendance and complete online assignments and projects. The instructor will assess emergency absences to determine the need for make-up work.
Can a student make up a class?
When the instructor approves, a student can make up the class by joining another available cohort. The school must approve the request to allocate for transportation or the other school requirements for permits.
What type of work will the student complete outside of class?
Students will work independently using the Department of Labor CAREERONESTOP ONLINE SITE.

Will students’ privacy be protected?
Students' information is not disclosed to the CAREERONESTOP site. Students complete modules without the need to enter personal information. Completed work will be submitted to the instructor for coaching and evaluation only, and to verify assignment completion.
Will students participate in group photos or media publications?
Schools will communicate media release approval for each student. Restrictions will be respected.
What happens if a student drops out of the program?
The paid slot for this program may be used for another student, preferably before the program starts. Replacements at any time are at the instructor's discretion only. Refunds are not issued as they are committed in advance to the college and other coordination resources.
Can a student be removed from the program?
Severe discipline or reckless behavior are grounds for student dismissal. In such cases, the instructor will communicate with the school representative to determine the appropriate action.
What is the Snow Day plan?
The instructor will notify students of a make-up date and make arrangements so that every student can attend the snow date.
