Reference Resources

A reference text is something you can refer to for general knowledge or accurate and trustworthy facts.

Britannica Academic is a more comprehensive encyclopedia than the school version. It also includes a Collegiate Dictionary & Thesaurus, primary sources, magazines, periodicals, and an atlas.

The Gale Virtual Reference Library includes digital versions of encyclopedias. Be sure to click 'view tutorial' to get a sense for how to use this tool.

General Knowledge/Multiple Subjects

Research databases provide access to materials not freely available on the web. These materials include ebooks, academic journal articles, newspaper/magazine articles, media reviews, images, videos, and more.
