Junior Next Guide

23-24 Junior-Next-Guide.pdf

Designed for juniors across the state of Tennessee, the Next Guide is a resource to help students prepare for what’s “next” after high school graduation. Whether a student plans to enroll in a technical school, community college or university, join the military, or enter the workforce, the Next Guide contains resources that can help make those postsecondary goals a reality.

Junior Next Guide is divided into 6 sections:

2024-2025 11th Grade Course Sheet.pdf
2024-2025 DCHS Course Descriptions.pdf
2024-2025 Programs of Study.docx.pdf

If you have not taken the ACT yet, you will be taking it this year!

The state provides a free ACT to all Juniors in the Spring of your Junior year. This state-provided ACT is taken during the school day and more information will be provided to you closer to time.

You don't have to wait for your free state provided ACT, though. You can go ahead and take the National ACT, if you haven't already. Click the ACT logo to the left to be taken to the ACT site.

The possibility to take Dual Enrollment starts this year! Check out our Dual Enrollment page to learn what may be available or to ensure you become eligible!

The Tennessee Governor's Schools provide eleven challenging and high-intensity programs for rising 11th and 12th grade students nominated by high school faculty. Each school offers a unique learning environment for students interested in the arts, humanities, agriculture science, STEM programs, advanced mathematics, physics, leadership, international studies, Tennessee history, or potential teaching careers. Students interested in participating in a Governor's School should obtain the application from a high school administrator, school counselor, or other faculty member. Applications, submission information, and critical deadlines will be posted on the webpages of each individual Governor’s Schools site.
