Rev. Dr. Samuel Ling
Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be,
The last of life, for which the first was made:
Our times are in His hand
Who saith, 'A whole I planned,
Youth shows but half; trust God: see all, nor be afraid!'
These lines come from the Victorian poet Robert Browning (1812-1889 )'s poem "Rabbi Ben Ezra". This is the opening of the poem, which expresses an optimistic view of aging, suggesting that the later years of life hold their own unique potential and should be embraced.
Swifter than a weaver’s shuttle (Job 7:6a), so are our days. Yet for us who have faith in God, when we look back at the days gone by, we can confidently say, “As thy days, so shall thy strength be” (Deuteronomy 33:25b, KJV). In the past twenty years, seventy years, the Lord has made good His promise, “as thy days, so shall thy strength be.” Whether through thick and thin, in abundance or in want, in sickness or in health, at home or in an immigrant land, in shame or in glory, in doubt or in joy, in temptation or in victory, The Lord has made good His promise, “as thy days, so shall thy strength be.”
The Lord’s promise “as thy days, so shall thy strength be” also leads us confidently into the future. Our lives are not concluded yet; we may have a long way to go until we reach the goal. We may encounter more trials, more joy; we may need more prayers, yet receive more answers; we may face more challenges, yet be given more strength; we may have more spiritual challenges, yet also claim more victories.
On a more personal note, I have reached seventy years old in August 2025. When I first started serving at the Dallas Chinese Bible Church in March 2014, I said that I planned to retire when I reach the age of seventy, Deo Volente. Faster than I realize, the time has come, it’s time to say goodbye.
I wish to thank all the brothers and sisters of DCBC, especially the deacons, elders, and lay leaders. Like the Apostle Paul, who came among the Corinthian Christians, “I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling” (1 Corinthians 2:3, NIV). I focused on proclaiming the Word of God, caring for those in need, and leading by being an example of serving among you (1 Peter 5:3).
Regarding the ministry's focus at the DCBC, these years I concentrated on peace-making and succession planning. Forgive each other, be more inclusive of each other’s differences, and be more compassionate towards each other is clear Biblical teaching. We are to “be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32, NIV). There is an English proverb that says, “Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.” Christ’s parable of the two sons (Luke 15:11-32) reminds us that we are all sinners who have experienced the Father’s grace of acceptance. “By the grace of God I am what I am” (1 Corinthians 15:10a, NIV) said the Apostle Paul. If this could be said of the Apostle Paul, who am I to claim otherwise?
A harmonious church will inevitably become a growing church, as we learn from the great example of the early church: “And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.… They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved” (Acts 2:44-47, NLT).
Succession planning is another essential ministry focus. When I came to DCBC twelve years ago, we already had an aging congregation, and succession planning was already an urgent matter. I still recall Gordon and Amy Lee and their young family moving to DCBC from Austin about two months after I came to DCBC. We couldn’t even find a fellowship group in the Mandarin Ministry that suited their age. Our Joshua Fellowship really reached out to them and made them feel at home. Thanks be to God that Gordon and Amy are still with us after these twelve years. Gordon is our General Service Deacon, with a great vision for improving our campus; Amy has become our all-important Administrative Assistant. Thanks to the Deacon Board through the years, which is always ready to support my proposals when I ask to create staff positions. A special thank you is due to all our brothers and sisters, who give generously to support our church, even in the time of the COVID-19 lockdown. DCBC is now blessed with young pastoral staff and leaders who are ready to take up the baton from us as we move forward.
As I conclude, I wish to borrow the Apostle Paul’s words of farewell: “And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified” (Acts 20:32, ESV). “Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you” (2 Corinthians 13:11, NLT).
Gratias Deo!
Deacon Isaac Chow
Praise the Lord for His abundant provision and His watchful care over our church since 1968. Through the years, God has blessed us with many faithful coworkers in Christ and devoted pastoral staff who have served diligently and sacrificially for His glory.
In 2025, we once again experienced His guiding hand as pastors, ministers, deacons, and brothers and sisters who served together in unity to care for the congregation, extend love to the community, strengthen our ministries, and prayerfully prepare for the growth of the church. Every ministry has played a vital role in building up the body of Christ through worship, community groups, fellowships, outreach, and missions, enabling our church to glorify God and be a blessing to others. With grateful hearts, we give thanks for the unity, dedication, and servant spirit of all who have labored faithfully for the Lord.
By God’s grace, we have been able to extend compassion, love, and care both within our congregation and beyond, as seen in these ministry highlights. The Board established a Benevolence Fund to support brothers and sisters who may face financial needs in times of difficulty. We organized love offerings for relief efforts, such as supporting the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires, and distributed these gifts through trusted Christian organizations. We also partnered with ministries such as the 4C organization, CCHC to extend the love of Christ beyond our own church family. In addition, the Board increased the financial support of a beloved retired minister who faithfully served our church for 25 years, so that her medical and living needs may be better provided for.
We are grateful for the faithful leadership of Pastor Samuel Ling, who has served as Senior Pastor since 2014 and has announced his retirement in March 2026. We give thanks to God for his twelve years of devoted service to our church. In preparation for this important transition, the Deacon Board and Elders have formed a Senior Pastor Search Committee. Under Pastor Ling’s guidance, the Board also approved new pastoral roles, including an English Assistant Pastor and a part-time Women’s Minister, to better care for the diverse needs of our church family, with these positions to be filled in due time.
As we look ahead, we continue to witness God’s hand guiding our church. It is our desire to strengthen existing ministries, welcome new families, and encourage spiritual growth and revival across our Cantonese, English, and Mandarin congregations. With the calling to love God, love people, and make disciples, we remain committed to evangelism, missions, and discipleship, trusting that the Lord will use us to bring many more to Christ.
We want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the pastoral staff, ministry leaders, and every brother and sister in Christ for your faithful service to the Lord in 2025. Your dedication and partnership in the gospel are a testimony of Christ’s love and a witness to the glory of His name in our community. May God continue to bless our church family as we serve Him together in unity.
Romans 8:28 (NIV)
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Elder Charles Lee & Deacon Silas Chan
Looking Back
The Cantonese Ministry Core Team was first formed in October 2023 to share the leadership responsibilities while Pastor Ling was recovering from his heart surgery. We were so thankful to God for His healing hand, as Pastor Ling was able to return from medical leave and resume his leadership in February 2024. Toward the end of the year, Pastor Ling encouraged me to step back into the role of Cantonese Ministry coordinator. I am humbled by his trust and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving alongside our coworkers in the Cantonese ministry. As we look back on this year, our hearts are filled with gratitude. We thank our faithful and gracious God for His abundant provision and guidance every step of the way. Through challenges and blessings, the Lord has reminded us that His grace is always sufficient.
Ministry Highlights
I want to take a moment to thank our coworkers who have been faithfully serving in different areas of ministry. The Welcome Team (led by David Cheung/Minister William Wu) has been on the front line each Sunday, greeting newcomers and making them feel part of our church family. The Caring Team (led by Lanshu Wong) has come alongside brothers and sisters in times of need—through visits, prayers, and encouragement. Our Worship Team (led by Ming Lam), ushers, communion coordination, praise team and AV coworkers, has led us to lift our hearts to God each Sunday. We especially thank the organist and pianist for their support from the Mandarin congregation. Under the leadership of Catherine Leung, we are able to offer two classes every semester. Our Sunday School teachers have been faithfully teaching God’s words and equipping us to grow in faith. Our Fellowship Groups are coordinated by Deacon Silas Chan. We are blessed with seven fellowship groups across the Cantonese congregation -- (1) Blessed Light with David Lau; (2) Group B with Erica Yeung; (3) Group C with Benny Yu; (4) CYA with Joe Tam; (5) Nard’s Home with Catherine Leung; (6) Cantonese Men with Simon Yu and (7) Men’s Cave with Chor Kwan Leung – to share life, Bible study and encourage one another in discipleship. Each ministry has been a testimony of God’s grace, and I thank every coworker for serving with a willing heart.
This year, we have seen a steady growth in Sunday service attendance, in the participation of Sunday School classes, and more people are stepping forward to serve. We have also witnessed God’s comfort and power through the Caring ministry for those facing sickness and family challenges.
The Cantonese fellowships held several joint gatherings.
The Lunar New Year celebration, held on February 8th, was attended by over 160 people. There were programs from various fellowships, introductions to new friends, and an excellent time was had by all.
In April, the Cantonese C fellowship organized a picnic, with members from other Cantonese groups participating. Together, they enjoyed the beautiful scenery, shared delicious food, and built up a closer relationship.
The July retreat seminar, led by Pastor Pang, was themed "Love God, Love People." Pastor Pang focused on Deuteronomy and Leviticus, sharing how God loves people, how people should love God, and how people should love others. Finally, he drew on the story of the Good Samaritan to explain what it means to love our neighbor. Pray that brothers and sisters learn to accept, build up, serve, forgive, and love one another, giving glory to God.
Looking Ahead
We give thanks to God for bringing Minister Dickson Chau to serve as our new Cantonese pastor. We warmly welcome him and his wife Prisca and look forward to partnering together in the gospel. We believe the Lord has prepared this new chapter for our Cantonese ministry, and we are eager to see how He will lead us in the days ahead.
As we look toward the coming year, we are excited to begin our Cantonese 3-Circle Evangelism, coordinated by Gordon Ngo. We pray that this powerful tool will equip us to share the gospel more effectively with friends, family, and community. It is my prayer that every brother and sister will grow in confidence and boldness to bear witness to Christ in his/her daily life. May we continue to walk together in unity, serving with joy, and trusting God to do far more abundantly than all we ask or imagine.
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20–21 (ESV)

Rev. Abraham Yongzhao Feng Mandarin (40+) Ministry Report
Looking back on the past year, we have experienced the Lord's faithful provision, with every ministry under His protection and guidance. We are thankful for the fruit we have borne, while also recognizing the challenges and areas for growth.
Adult Sunday School: This year, our Sunday School classes proceeded as planned, offering a balanced curriculum of Bible books, foundational doctrines, topical lectures, and evangelistic courses. We were also thankful that new teachers joined our teaching team. However, attendance in Mandarin Sunday School has dropped by nearly 18% compared to last year. This is primarily due to losing some long-term members for various reasons, with very few new students joining. In response, we updated our curriculum design and improved the promotion strategy to make Sunday School more engaging and rekindle enthusiasm and commitment among congregations.
Fellowships: Fellowship attendance has also seen a decline for a variety of reasons, including aging problems, health issues, and difficulties in integrating newcomers. The age-based fellowship model also faces inevitable challenges, such as fewer co-laborers and less appeal to younger generations. We are currently shifting some of our focus toward cultivating new co-workers and encouraging inter-fellowship support. Furthermore, we have begun collaborating with the welcome ministry to help newcomers get connected to our fellowships. We are also in the process of planning dedicated and regular evangelistic meetings for seekers.
Bible Study: The unified study of the Book of Romans for the Mandarin 40+ fellowships is nearing completion. As planned, we will proceed to study a book from the Old Testament next. The monthly pre-study meetings, once only for Bible study leaders, are now open to all brothers and sisters who wish to attend. These meetings have effectively become a special Bible study gathering, allowing attendees to discuss freely and mutually edify each other.
Care Ministry: The need for care increased significantly this year, so our pastoral staff alone can no longer meet the demand. Establishing a systematic care team has become urgent. Although some brothers and sisters have responded to the call, forming and training a sufficient team still faces the challenge of limited manpower.
Seniors Ministry: Due to a policy change regarding the use of facilities at the Silver Gardens senior apartments, our regular meetings there were suspended after May this year. Praise the Lord, a new venue has been secured, and meetings will resume soon.
Seminary Student Ministry: Due to graduations and internships, the number of full-time seminary students receiving financial support from our church has been reduced to four. We continue strengthening our connection with the seminary students by having church members open their homes and by hosting plenary gatherings at the church, while also welcoming new students. In terms of ministry, our church is dedicated to providing them with practical opportunities and support.
In summary, cultivating co-laborers and integrating newcomers will be the primary focuses of the coming year. The challenges ahead are significant, but the Lord’s presence is even more certain and dependable. Please earnestly pray with us together, with a vision of God’s kingdom, for the Mandarin Ministry and for the whole church, that the Lord may raise up more brothers and sisters who will receive and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, offering themselves in gratitude and laboring together with Christ.
Rev. Max Kong Mandarin Youth Ministry
Over the past year, witnessing the gradual development of various ministries in our church has filled my heart with gratitude and joy. The Mandarin-speaking youth ministry has been steadily rooted in the truth of the gospel through weekly Bible studies and gatherings. This year, we particularly focused on the vitality of the fellowship and the practical needs of family members, especially in providing care for children. Through careful planning and the cooperation of our team, the warmth and sense of connection in our gatherings have gradually strengthened, enabling family members to support one another in faith, relationships, and daily life.
As in previous years, the Mandarin youth ministry greatly relies on the support of the church. Although the assistance we received could not match that given to other youth ministries, everyone is gradually taking up their responsibilities, and the fellowship has remained resilient, undeterred by external circumstances, continuing to embody the vision of “from here to there, following the example of Jesus.” As the Bible says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9) By persevering in faith, the fellowship has witnessed tangible results as well as deeper connections and growth among family members.
Regarding the student fellowship, this year we continued its reorientation. From the perspective of the church’s overall ministries, student ministry has needed to take further steps forward even before the pandemic. Many participants in the ministry are no longer students, and the remaining young professionals should not remain merely in a cared-for role. Instead, they are called to take on greater responsibility and service in order to nurture their spiritual growth. Although this transition has been slow, I hope that both the younger generation and the church elders will recognize this spiritual need and step out of their comfort zones. I am filled with hope. While certain areas still require greater commitment, the overall trend is moving positively forward, advancing the development of the ministry.
In terms of sports ministry, the badminton and pickleball fellowship has established clearer rules and positioning this year, providing a stable platform for church members to engage in physical activity and fellowship. Every smoothly run event not only allows participants to enjoy the fun of sports but also strengthens their relationships with one another. With the badminton fellowship now clearly defined, I also hope that the church as a whole can unify the management of sports-related ministries, clarifying regulations for venue usage, activity content, and other relevant arrangements.
Looking back over the past year, each ministry has steadily progressed, bringing tangible change and growth. Our efforts are not made for visible recognition, but for the transformation of lives and the healthy development of our ministries.
Looking forward to the new year, my greatest expectation is that each ministry will have more team members willing to share responsibility, so that our fellowships can operate in a healthier, more collaborative way. Whether it is the youth family fellowship, the student ministry, or the badminton fellowship, these are all important groups entrusted to us by God. I pray that each participant can exercise their gifts in their respective roles, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10) May the coming year bear even richer fruit.
Rev. David Tang, Rev. Joshua Ong & Deacon Jason Lin
We praise the Lord for the ministries He has accomplished through the brother and sisters in 2025. We will make the report in light of DCBC’s core values.
God’s Word
Our conviction is to preach through the Bible faithfully because we value God’s word. This year we have preached through the book of Numbers in the spring. During the summer we had a sermon series on John 3:16. In the fall we are preaching through Ezra. We will end the year with the Advent Sermon Series.
For College Sunday School Hour, Pastor Josh and his co-workers are serving 60+ college students weekly. During the spring they finished studying 1 & 2 Samuel; for the fall semester, Pastor Josh is teaching through the Gospel of Mark
We continue to make God’s Word a priority in all of our ministries as we make it central in all of our meetings and teaching.
Community
We have adult and young adult connection classes every Sunday to help newcomers and visitors to be connected to one another.
We currently have 14 community groups that range from 5 to 20 people in the group. The goals are still the same: to exhort one another to grow in their relationship with Christ, with one another, and seek to grow as a disciple-maker for Jesus Christ (UP, IN, and OUT) as we cultivate accountability, belonging, and care (ABC).
The college ministry had a retreat this February. The speaker was Pastor Justin Wong. 50 people attended.
We did not have a retreat this year, but we are planning for the 2026 English ministry retreat. Our speaker next year will be Rev. Anthony Hao from CBC San Diego.
Evangelism
This year the English ministry participated in Yokohama and Zuni Short Term Missions trips. The teams were led by Pastor Joshua Ong and Pastor David Tang, respectively. We learned to present the Gospel and shared the Gospel during the trip.
Many Young Adult Events were hosted at DCBC to help give people opportunities to bring friends and co-workers who are wanting to know more about the Gospel:
Lunar New Dumpling Making Party on 2/8
July 4th Kickball and BBQ
Young Adult Large Group Kick Off on 8/16
Equipping
Pastor Josh and Pastor David met regularly with community group leaders to train and encourage them.
We had equipping classes
We trained 10 young adults to be community group leaders and deputies this May
We are continue to do discipleship in micro groups and 1-on-1 settings
Generations
Band of Brothers & Tapestry - During the summer, we again had Band of Brothers and Tapestry. These are intentional intergenerational discussion groups during the Sunday school hour. On average we had more than 120 brothers and sisters take part each week to connect intergenerationally.
Unity
We value unity in DCBC - this means that while we are different in language, culture, and preferences, we choose to serve together as a church. To that end, the English ministry has encouraged the brothers and sisters to participate in church-wide ministries such as children ministry, youth ministry, Sunday cooking crew, VBS, Mission Conference, etc.
Please continue to pray for the English ministry and the English ministry coworkers.
Rev. David Tang & Deacon Claire Jung
We praise the Lord for our continued ability to be involved in missions as a church. This year we were able to enhance our engagement with the missionaries/christian workers/christian organizations to better understand their needs and support their ministries through GPT, sharing with all three congregations, and STMs. DCBC also collaborates with AFC (Ambassadors for Christ) and 4 other Chinese churches in the DFW area to co-host 2024 CMC (Chinese Mission Convention) Global in Dallas. This year’s theme, Generations On Mission Together, underscores the collaborative effort of all generations in carrying out God’s mission. As we unite in Christ, each generation contributes its distinct talents and resources to propel God’s people forward for His kingdom. Praise the Lord!
We are committed to DCBC’s mission of Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples. We remain committed to Jesus’ great commission of making disciples of all nations - starting in DFW and all the way to the ends of the earth. To that end, we continued to be focused on our vision to: Excite & Educate, Engage, Equip, and Empower.
Excite & Educate the Congregation for Local and Global Missions

● Four groups of missionaries/christian workers visited DCBC in the summer time and shared in all 3 services and combined fellowship meetings (June - Aug’2024)
○ Darcy & Stephanie Wong
○ Cindy Wu
○ Evelyn Walters
○ Peter & Jenny Oh
● International Food Fair and Missions Sunday on 10/26-27.
Engage the Congregation in Local and Global Missions
● Chinese International Students: We are grateful for brothers and sisters like Davis and Nancy Wong, Elder Hank and Schia-Yiou Cheng, and Sylvia Chiang for leading the church to engage in reaching out to Chinese international students. Regular Friday in-person Bible study is continuing weekly.
● Mandarin Local Outreach: We are continuing our outreach at Silver Gardens to reach the elderly living there with more than 20 volunteers from the Mandarin congregations. DCBC hosts programs including singing the praise songs, sharing messages, and studying Bible verses two times a quarter. We also pray with the elderly and share the good news with the non-believers.
● Short-term mission trips: This year we had 4 teams on short-term missions trips: one to Germany (6 people), and one to Zuni, New Mexico (22 people), one to Indonesia (4 people), and a youth team to “For the Nations Refugee Outreach in Garland” (5 people). STM team members consist of brothers and sisters from all three language congregations. The Mission committee also reviewed the feedback/suggestions from the STM teams and discussed how we can better support the missionaries or christian organizations (short and long term) based on their needs. We are currently exploring more opportunities for STMs for 2025.
Equip the Congregation in Local and Global Missions
● For the Mandarin local outreach, Pastor Abraham co-works with the volunteers and shares the bible messages with the elderly at Silver Gardens
● For all 4 short-term missions teams, there was numerous training provided by Pastor Clement and Pastor David.
Empower (and also encourage) DCBC Supported Missionaries
● One of the main ways we empower overseas missionaries and missions organizations is by supporting them with finance and prayer. Currently we are supporting 21 missionaries & Christian workers and 8 missions organizations.
● We also continue to support our missionaries by having fellowships and community groups encourage and connect with them. This year we sent encouragement cards to our missionaries. We also plan on sending the personalized care packages to the missionaries in December prior to Christmas.
Rev. Clement Setiawan & Minister Angel Lee
Every year, we are thankful for another opportunity to serve a new group of teenagers. As quickly as we said goodbye to the seniors of 2023, we received a new class of 7th graders. Our girls' small groups were led by: Genie Wong & Jacquelyn Wong (7th), Angel Lee (8th), Megan Liu & Angela Chang (9th-11th), and Christy Purnadi (12th). The boys’ small group leaders were Daniel Zhang (7th), Kevin Jiang (8th), Jason Lin & Ethan Ho (9th), Clement Setiawan (10th & 11th), Daniel Jee (12th). We are blessed as a ministry to have men and women who love the Lord, who are seeking to actively obey Jesus, and who love teenagers and see the importance of being consistent in loving and speaking truth to teenagers.
Youth ministry has changed a lot over the last few years. Teenagers, even those raised by believers, may not believe in absolute Truth. The heart of youth ministry is to teach Scripture, to give them a biblical framework to understand the world (creation, fall, redemption, present and future hope). We desire to give them a framework to filter the world through. We do this through relational discipleship with adults in various walks of life who seek to love and obey the Lord, as best they can. In youth ministry, we desire for our teenagers to be able to share openly and honestly about their struggles in life and to find that we have a community here that emulates Jesus’ heart of truth, kindness, compassion, and love. We acknowledge that we, leaders, are far from perfect and we have to fully depend on Jesus to make us right before God, to cleanse us and use us for His ministry. We hope to help our parents and teenagers live authentically daily where they will hear the Gospel communicated, experience the Gospel and live it out daily.
Friday Night Youth Group:
With a changing cultural landscape, we felt led to help our teenagers understand the Jesus of the Bible is not the Jesus who “hates” that they may hear about in the news or from their friends at school. As such, we embarked on the series “Encountering Jesus” in the Gospel of John. We wanted our teenagers to see that the Jesus of the Bible is the God who is humble, who protects, who loves those that others do not love, who helps and provides in the best way. We talked about the only way to know Jesus is to be born again (John 3:7). We prayed for these teenagers to see the depth of their sinfulness and to be desperate in seeking the Jesus of the Bible!
Youth Sunday School:
This last year, we had 3 youth Sunday school classes: 7th/8th, 9th/10th, and 11th/12th. The 7th/8th grade class went through What’s Up: Discovering the Gospel, Jesus, and Who You Really Are with Angel Lee. We wanted to root our middle schoolers in the Gospel and help students understand how we were created, who we were created to image, how sin broke and continues to break us, and how the Gospel saves us to live. The 9th/10th graders went through the book of Genesis, taught by Kenny Chen and Patricia Chen. The 11th/12th graders learned about the Church matters taught by Rev. Clement. Our Sunday School curriculum follows 3 big things that we want our teens to struggle through and process before they go to college: their understanding of the Gospel and whether it changes their lives, the Bible and whether they believe what it says and takes it as truth, and more practical living (usually in the 11th/12th grade). Our goal in Sunday school is to teach them to think critically so that they won’t be tossed and turned by the waves of a changing world.
During the summer, some youth helped out in Preschool and Children’s Sunday school under Min. Jenny’s leadership.
Winter Retreat:
We had Winter Retreat and it was an intimate experience! We invited Pete Chung of Korean Central Presbyterian Church of Houston back again for a 2nd time! Pete has been a long time friend of many at DCBC, including Angel! We were excited to have him speak with “Living Hope” as our theme. The teens and leaders who came were given a space to reflect on what is keeping them from following Jesus and challenged to come before God honestly in confession and repentance.
Graduation Celebration:
As a church body, we got to celebrate our God who faithfully saw these teenagers through high school. Pastor Clement encouraged the graduating class with the main point that those who understand God’s extravagant love will respond to Jesus with extravagant love from Luke 7. Unfortunately, Woody from Woody B’s BBQ retired. But, we were able to acquire Spring Creek BBQ as our caterer this year. Most importantly, we got to pray for our class of 2023 graduates. Every class that graduates holds a special place in our hearts and this class is no different. We pray that they will continue to walk in love and obedience to Jesus and God will use them mightily for His name sake.
DCCYC:
Rev. Clement led a group of teenagers to DCCYC. The theme was “γινώσκω” (ginōskō). Josh Aguas from DCFC was the speaker for the high schoolers while Rev. DC Choi from Kairos Fellowship, in The Colony, spoke to the junior highers. While DCCYC is always a fun time, our students were challenged to make their faith personal and to take their relationship with God seriously.
Youth Mission:
Rev. Clement led a local mission trip to For the Nations in Dallas with 2 adults, Christy Purnadi and Ethan Ho, and 4 teenagers. They served refugee families and tutored for a week. Through this trip, these teenagers have formed a bond with one another through service. They have also broadened their understanding of why refugees are forced to leave their countries and are on their way to developing increased compassion for people. Some may have even developed a love for the least of these.
Minister Jenny Xiong, and Deacon Jerry Chen
We are grateful for God’s provision of wonderful volunteers on the DCBC Kids team, who faithfully served our children with patience, kindness, and love. We would also like to thank Jade Chia for her leadership in serving as the Children’s Ministry deacon for the past 4 years. We also welcome Jerry Chen returning as the Children’s Ministry deacon this year.
The mission of DCBC Kids is to reach kids by partnering with parents so that they have the greatest opportunity to become mature followers of Christ. Our team is privileged and committed to work towards this mission via the following programs:
Children’s Worship seeks to train children to worship God corporately by providing an age-appropriate worship experience. We hold 2 services, Preschool and Elementary, that run simultaneously at 9:30 AM on Sunday mornings. Children’s Worship and Sunday School classes use Lifeway’s Gospel Project curriculum. Children’s worship programs include prayer, worship with music, hearing the word of God, and response to His Word. Volunteers serve as song leaders, Bible teachers, activity leaders, and room coordinators. Elementary students are also encouraged to serve by playing the piano, praying aloud, and Scripture reading. We continue to have an Elementary Student Servant Team for 5th and 6th graders to serve in A/V, Offering, and Welcome. Our Children’s worship leaders serve for one month every quarter year round.
Children’s Sunday School teaches children through Bible lessons held in large groups and life application activities held in small groups, according to their ages. We have five different age groups that run simultaneously at 11:15 AM on Sundays — toddlers, preK-Kinder, 1st-2nd grade, 3rd-4th grade, 5th-6th grade. We use Lifeway’s Gospel Project curriculum. Our Sunday School leaders serve for an entire school year (i.e. 9 months in a year). We appreciate our youth and college students for partnering with us to serve in Summers so our regular leaders can take a Summer break.
The Nursery aims to help babies and toddlers, 0-2 years old, know and love Jesus by providing a safe and caring environment that fosters growth and learning. Nursery care is provided on Sunday mornings, Friday nights (during the school year), and during church-wide events. We appreciate our paid sitters and volunteers who love lovingly care for our babies. We were thankful for our nursery coordinator, Yujing Pan, for recruiting, leading, and caring for the nursery team.
The Welcome Team strives to provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for children. We are grateful to have a team of greeters to welcome the children and help their families with the computer check-in process. This team also helps to keep the children's area safe and secure. Due to the complexity of our check-in system, the Welcome Team’s work is often technologically demanding.
AWANA (Friday evenings during the school year) aims to disciple children through Bible instruction and verse memorization. AWANA is an international ministry that seeks to help churches and parents raise children to know, love, and serve Christ. DCBC runs 3 Awana Clubs—Cubbies (3-4 yrs. old), Sparks (K-2nd grade), and T&T (3rd-6th grade). Kids and leaders meet weekly for games, small group time, and large group time. This year, per parents’ request and survey, we moved our Awana meeting time 30 minutes earlier, from 7:45pm to 7:15pm. Every Awana evening, we provided dinner for the entire volunteer team to make sure they could arrive early and be prepared. Awana also offers two family-oriented events for all Awana-registered families: Grand Prix Car Race in Spring and Family Fun Night in Fall. We are grateful for Adam Wong’s dedication and leadership. We are also thankful for the Awana admin team and game team, and the many college student and parent volunteers who take time out of their busy schedules to serve the children!
Children’s Special Events are one-time or annual ministries specifically aimed to reach, teach, and equip children to be like Jesus. VBS 2025 was a five-day adventure which took on a journey where God was Magnified! Children, 3 years old to 5th grade participated in music, crafts, snacks, games, and Bible lessons. We are thankful for Min. Jenny Xiong who directed the VBS team along with her Summer assistant, Mun Chan. We are also incredibly grateful for the VBS core team, teenage, and adult volunteers who made the event possible!
Aside from our programs, the Children’s Ministry could not run without the vital support from our Resource Room ministry. Pady Hoh has devoted countless hours to organizing and managing the supplies in our awesome Resource Room.
Minister William Wu
In 2025, it had been another year of challenges. We have adjusted our caring Ministry focus due to the unexpected illness of Minister Sherry Ong. We were unable to implement several of our Parenting, Caring, and Counseling programs due to a lack of ministry leaders. As we approach the start of the 2026 ministry year, we are praying for the recovery of our Minister, Sherry Ong, so that she can return to her Ministry calling.
Counseling/Caring Ministry:
We are deeply appreciative of our dedicated counseling team and caring program leaders. Despite the challenges, they have continued to provide unwavering care to our DCBC church family members, inspiring us all with their commitment and love.
We are also profoundly grateful for our counseling team co-workers, Mei Yatco, Katherine Lam, Humphrey Ha, and Grace Ha. Their dedication includes providing counseling and caring for our DCBC members. They also attended counseling conferences and workshops. Praise God for our faithful counselors; we have performed over 120 hours of church counseling ministry work.
Abraham Hospitality Ministry:
Under the capable leadership of Gladys Fung, the Abraham Hospitality Ministry has not only improved the coffee and snack service but also witnessed significant growth. This year, we serve around 525 cups of hot beverages each Sunday. We praise God for the blessing of this ministry.
This Ministry is focused on creating a Fellowship atmosphere (Hebrews 10:24-25). Pray that this Ministry continues to facilitate, encourage, and inspire each other to love and do good work.
In addition to the Sunday coffee/tea service, the Abraham Hospitality Ministry also conducted several special ministry events:
Mother's Day – The celebration was on Sunday, May 11. We celebrated with a worship message, music, and food (Cake/snacks/fruits). We recorded messages of appreciation from children to their earthly Mother and provided a gift to all adult females.
Father's Day – This celebration was on Sunday, June 15. We honored and encouraged our earthly Father through a worship message on this special day. We served BBQ lunch and gave a gift to all adult males.
"Love-Your-Leaders" Ministry:
In 2025, we established the Ministry of Leadership Appreciation based on the teachings of Scripture in 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13."We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work.” It is a special way to show our leaders how much we value and appreciate their work.
For this reason, we have started the Ministry of Clergy Appreciation Sunday and Deacon Sunday. These ministries are focused on the "love of our leaders because of their work".
We are grateful to our coworkers, Joanna Huang and Shuwuyu Tsai, for planning and organizing these special events.
Clergy Appreciation Sunday – Family Ministry initiated this ministry event in 2024, under the leadership of church Elders and the Family Minister. The Ministry is aligned with National Clergy Appreciation Sunday. The ministry's goal is to appreciate our Pastors/Ministers. We will show our appreciation of love by serving cake and snacks on October 12.
Deacon Sunday – This is a new ministry event, and it is scheduled for Sunday, December 21. We will use this occasion to welcome our newly elected Deacons and express our appreciation to our existing serving Deacons and Deaconesses.
Other Family Ministry Programs:
Sunday school
Financial stewardship workshops.
As we reflect on God's mercy and grace, we are reminded of His call for us to care for one another. We welcome DCBC members to support the family ministry this coming year. Your participation is valued and essential for the Ministry's growth and impact.
Deacon Ming Lam
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16
May we all love God, love people, and together make disciples. In our daily lives, let us lift our voices in praise, expressing our love for God; on every Lord’s Day, let us serve one another, demonstrating love among brothers and sisters; and through teaching and learning, let us fulfill the mission of making disciples.
This year marks my fourth year serving as a deacon in the Worship Ministry, and it is also the final year of my term. Through these years of service, I have come to deeply realize the importance of relying on God, and I have witnessed the preciousness of serving together in unity with fellow coworkers. It has truly been a blessing to have the opportunity to serve. I also give thanks to God, for every week many brothers and sisters faithfully dedicate themselves, enabling each worship service to proceed smoothly.
We thank God for preparing so many coworkers in the Worship Ministry, so that we may witness His glory and grace. The following is the list of team members:
The AV team – hardware is led by Brother Gilfred Fang. Software is led by Brother David Jee.
Mandarin A/V: Brother Daniel Chen.
Cantonese A/V: Brother Eric Tai.
English A/V: Brother David Wang.
Usher team
Mandarin team coordinator: Sister Jean Chen.
Cantonese team coordinator: Sister Esther Chen.
English team coordinator: Elder Kenny Hsu.

Cantonese: Brother Richard Lau.
English: Brother Alex Wong.
Decoration team – Sister Gloria Pang.
Worship/Praise Team
Mandarin Choir: Minister Grace Tu
Cantonese Praise team: Sister Denise Chen
English Praise team: Sister Florence Ku.
We are grateful to all who have contributed to the worship services. It is our prayer that, through worship, God’s name may be glorified and our Heavenly Father’s heart be pleased.
Minister Grace Tu
Starting in January, we introduced the new hymns from the new edition of the church hymnal to all fellowships and have gradually incorporated these new songs into our Sunday worship services.
The Senior Pastor and the Cantonese core staff have decided that, starting in February, the Cantonese sacred music department will be led by Sister Denise Chen, who will work in partnership with the Chinese sacred music department director.
The Sunrise service on Easter was held at our church. The Mandarin choir and the Dallas Christian United Choir, totaling over 40 members, sang together. This was the first time in many years that such a large number of members have sung.
Under the arrangement of the Senior Pastor, the InOne praise team led worship this year, on the fifth Sunday of the month, in both the Cantonese and Mandarin congregations. We thank them for their dedication and pray for God's blessing on their ministry.
Also, under the arrangement of the Senior Pastor, the Living Water Melody Praise Team will lead the Mandarin service on October 19th. Pray for God's guidance and blessing on this service.
Thank be to God, this year we have a brother and a sister joining the Mandarin choir. A brother recovered from cancer chemotherapy and returned to the choir. Although his cancer levels recently increased and he began chemotherapy again, God has given him the faith and strength to continue attending Sunday worship and serving with us. Pray that God will continue to heal and sustain him.
Not long ago, a family in the Mandarin choir suffered heavy losses from a fire. However, through their testimony, they learned that it was a series of coincidences that kept them safe. Amidst their great shock, they also experienced God's miraculous work. Hallelujah, praise the Lord!
In the midst of this tragedy, we witnessed the church brothers and sisters united in prayer, offering support and care. As members of the Body of Christ, weep together, rejoice together, and experience God together.
Brothers and sisters serving in the sacred music ministry are often the largest and longest-serving group in the church. Leading worship and praising God, whether through singing, instrumental music, or audiovisual production, is an expression of our love and reverence for God.
Praise the Lord! During my 26 years of ministry in music at DCBC, I've worked alongside many faithful brothers and sisters who love the Lord. Some have left DCBC and continue to serve in the music ministry of other churches. Some have gone to heaven and are enjoying the joy of the Lord's presence daily in His house. Some older coworkers are still among us, continuing to serve wholeheartedly. They are all encouraging and good examples to me.
“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” Genesis 2:7
May God's people always use this precious Breath of Life to sing praises to Him.
Immanuel
Deacon Catherine Leungku
Psalm 121:1~2 “ I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from?. My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heavens and earth. ”
Thank God for His protection and guidance, for He is always with us and brings us true peace and hope. With His guidance, brothers and sisters can worship, know, and serve Him together in God's house.
This year, we have added some new courses for brothers and sisters who are equipped to teach and become members of the Sunday School teacher team to teach God's Word together.
In terms of the church library, thanks to the grace of the Lord, many new co-workers have joined. They faithfully help in the rotational ministry, compiling and entering library materials into the library's online system.
Mission
The Dallas Chinese Bible Church believes that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, the highest authority in faith and life, through which we know His attributes, His expectations of us, and receive His blessings in our lives through obedience. The words of the Bible have the power to change our hearts and minds. The Ministry of Adult Education was established to be able to teach and share the message of the Bible more among adults.
The Adult Education Ministry teaches and shares the Bible Scriptures through the following ministries:
Adult Sunday School – Inspire and grow the spirituality of our brothers and sisters in the church through a structured, systematic, and Bible-centered curriculum. Preach the gospel to non-believers through evangelical Sunday school classes. Equip and train future teachers and other ministry leaders through our teacher training programs.
Library – is a resource center for Christian books and media to inspire, grow, and equip the brothers and sisters of DCBC.
Church Publications –
One-Year Bible Reading Plan: Promote and distribute Bible reading programs to encourage brothers and sisters to be rooted in God's Word.
Church Ministry Annual Report: It is a communication channel within our church.
Here are some highlights of the past year and the planned initiatives:
Adult Sunday School
There are currently 24 Sunday school teachers in the adult Sunday school, who serve faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Tang Dazhi, Pastor Feng Yongzhao, and Sister Catherine Leung who are the preparatory staff of the Sunday school. Sunday School had a total of 25 classes in the past year.
In the past twelve months (September 2024 to August 2025), there were a total of 6,363 attendees, equivalent to an average of 133 attendees per Sunday; compared to the total of 5,576 attendees and an average of 117 attendees per Sunday in the same period in previous last year (September 2023 to August 2024), the attendance rate has increased significantly by 14%; thanks the Lord for his guidance and the brothers and sisters for their continued more active participation.
Adult Sunday School Website: https://goo.gl/JDsEuE , on the church website under the "Resources" section, in which the courses syllabus and related information are provided.
We will continue to train teachers and invite more Sunday school teachers. The training course includes the following five courses: Introduction to the Old Testament, Introduction to the New Testament, Hermeneutics, Pedagogy, Systematic Theology, and other courses.
The ministry will plan on new initiatives to further raise congregational interest and participation in adult Sunday School.
Optimize video/audio equipment for Sunday school use.
Sincerely thanks from the bottom of my heart to all Sunday school teachers for your contributions. Forgive me not to list your names one by one, May God bless you all! I also thank Brother Wang Xianwei for his audio-visual technical support in the course recording.
Library
Five new volunteers were served at the library under the guidance of Brother Huang Hao and Sister Li Qimei.
Online Book Catalog https://www.libib.com/u/dcbc .There are currently 1761 Chinese title books, 1175 English title books, and 806 children's books for the congregation to borrow.
Special thanks to the current deacon Chen Zelin, Brother Huang Hao, and Sister Li Qimei, for their suggestions and help, which made the library's ministry more perfect. I also sincerely thank Elder Zheng Hang, Pastor Kong Lingxiang, and Pastor Feng Yongzhao for their valuable opinions and time on the classification and review of books. I would like to thank all of the co-workers who have worked silently for their faithful service. Forgive me not to list your names one by one. May God Bless you all!
Church Publications

It also provides a 90-day New Testament renewal plan and includes a Bible reading plan and registration form in the "Resources" option on the church website: https://goo.gl/W9k4X8
The 2025 Church Ministry Annual Report is available in both written and online electronic versions, with the "Resources" option on the church's website. Face-to-face reports are only available for library records or for members to apply for https://bit.ly/3ByL15M .
Planning to create an email system which will send the scriptures of the day to the 1-Year Bible Reading participants.
I am honored to have the opportunity to serve and participate in Sunday school ministry with many brothers and sisters who serve wholeheartedly. Compared to 2024, we have seen a lot of changes and new ideas. Both the resources and management of the library have been greatly improved. In terms of Sunday school, when we faced the anxiety of teachers not being able to connect, the Lord personally inspired and led more theological students, brothers and sisters to join the teaching ranks, so that we would not be in short supply. Behind this, we can also see the faithful service and dedication of pastors, successive deacons and co-workers. We would like to give all the glory to the Lord who loves us, and thank God for His abundant supply and preparation!
May we be as the Bible says, "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God." (Psalm 42:1), because "Your word is a lamp to my feet, a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105), and you are "living water, ..... to eternal life!" (John 4:10-14). Let us encourage each other, grow spiritually together and walk the path of heaven together. Amen!
Deacon Tim Huang
“ Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.
” 1 Peter 4:10
God never gives perfect gifts to anyone, but provides unique gifts to everyone so that we can depend on and help each other. Big gifts don’t mean huge success, since the measurement of “success” depends on if we faithfully use the gifts that God gives us. Praise the lord that we have many brothers and sisters who are willing to serve the lord with their gifts to do the jobs in the Membership services. Because of God’s grace and His providence, every aspect of Membership Services has been working smoothly. We have experienced His guidance and His faithfulness again. Service focuses in 2025 are briefly summarized as follows:
Membership: 50 brothers and sisters have joined our church to become members this year by the end of August,2025. We welcome them to become part of our family in Christ. We will work with each other to serve our Lord.
Food Service: As a church holding almost seven hundred attendants, DCBC has continuously been providing free lunches every Sunday for 56 years. This is God’s amazing blessing!
After many years of dedicated services, our beloved Mandarin Group C cooking team has retired due to senior age. But praise the Lord, sister Kathy Tran stepped up and formed a new cooking team to take over Mandarin C’s time slots and their new receipts are very delicious and welcomed by everyone. So currently we still have 11 food service teams. They take turns preparing and serving food in the kitchen every Sunday. We are also very lucky to have a faithful serving couple who, out of their own time, took on the heavy tasks of purchasing many items that are used regularly in the kitchen. We thank them and pray that God will bless them for their hard work in serving silently and faithfully for so many years.
Senior Transportation Ministry: Over the years, each Sunday, DCBC sends out a van and a mini-bus to pick up senior brothers and sisters from the senior center to come to DCBC for worship and then drive them back after lunch. There are over 20 brothers who have joined the team, taking turns to drive the two vehicles to serve the seniors. Praise the Lord for their faithful service and devotion each and every Sunday.
As church two vehicles are becoming older, they from time to time need maintenance and repairs. Praise the Lord we have a few brothers who are willing to volunteer their time to help with the regular needs to maintain the vehicles.
This year we are glad to see that more seniors are willing to come to DCBC to worship, which is over the maximum capacity of 21 people that the two vehicles can take. A decision has been made to send third or even fourth vehicles, either through outside Uber drivers or from some brothers driving their own cars. Although this increased the time for driver coordination each Sunday, this solved the previous issue where some seniors couldn’t make it to DCBC due to seat limitation.
Abraham Ministry: In 2025, Abraham Ministry’s 26 members: 7 from the English, 7 from the Mandarin, and 12 from the Cantonese congregations faithfully served an average of 500–550 cups of hot beverages and snacks each Sunday. More than just refreshments, our coffee station has been a place for conversation, connection, and fellowship across the whole church family.
Beyond regular Sundays, we organized celebrations for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day with gifts, cakes, snacks, and a BBQ brisket meal, and provided breakfast for the Easter Sunrise Service. We also supported major church events such as the Ministers Collective, Adult VBS, and the Cantonese Retreat with hot beverages and warm hospitality. Looking ahead to 2026, we plan to streamline our service and encourage more fellowship groups to join us in serving at church-wide events.
We express our heartfelt thanks to our pastors, elders, ministry leaders, and dedicated volunteers who have supported the Membership Department throughout the year. Your service has been essential in helping us fulfill our mission to build a welcoming and spiritually nurturing church family.
The Membership Department remains committed to connecting, equipping, and caring for all members of our congregation. With God's help and the support of our church leadership, we look forward to continued growth and deeper relationships within our church community in 2026.

Unexpected Incidents Addressed
Managed and resolved power outage disruptions in July with the assistance of Bacon Mechanical.
Repaired damage from severe weather, including roof inspections and fence repair for a neighboring property affected by fallen trees.
Looking Ahead
As our facilities continue to age, particularly in the Phase I and II buildings, we are mindful that maintenance costs will rise in the coming years. A long-term, holistic redevelopment plan for our campus is becoming increasingly critical. In the near term, we will continue with scheduled landscaping improvements, safety upgrades, and planned equipment replacements, while supporting the church’s broader strategic planning efforts.
We remain committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for all who enter our church. Thank you for your faithful prayers, service, and generosity, which make this ministry possible.
