Services Offered
SSS offers various free services designed to ensure eligible full-time students on the DCCC campus are successful in their academic career. Some of these services include:
Academic Advising - SSS staff members may serve as the official academic advisors for students in the program. The SSS advisor is available to provide academic, financial, career, graduate school and personal counseling to eligible students. Tutoring - Free one-on-one tutoring for program participants in a wide range of general education courses. Tutors meet with participants for one-on-one sessions. All SSS tutors complete a training course and the tutoring program is certified through the College Reading and Learning Association. The SSS tutoring lab is furnished with numerous computer stations, even offering a standing station, and study locations and is located in the SSS office. Apply to be a Tutor HERE . Mentoring - Each participant is mentored by the staff who stay in contact with assigned participants and can answer questions and concerns or refer participants to the appropriate resource for help. Mentors call, write and/or meet regularly with their participants. To set up an appointment click HERE!
Tutoring Lab - Furnished with numerous computer work stations, sitting and standing, and study areas. The lab is available to SSS participants at no charge with free printing on recycled paper. The lab is conveniently located in the SSS office and provides a clean and quiet study area with space for one-on-one tutoring sessions.
Computer Use - The TRIO offices are open to SSS participants on weekdays from 8am-5pm and are furnished with computer stations and a study area. Free printing on recycled paper is also provided in this area.
Courses - Special courses are designed to meet the needs of participants throughout their college career.
Workshops and Related Activities - Participants in SSS may attend workshops on college survival skills such as time management and test anxiety; career preparation needs such as resume writing and interviewing and financial literacy. Workshops and courses offered are constantly evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of participants.
Assistance with Financial Aid Process - SSS staff may assist participants with the completion of Financial Aid Renewal Application (FAFSA). To set up an appointment click HERE!
