How can I get involved with the TRIO Student Support Services Program?

Stop by our office! We are located in room 210 of the Learning Resource Center (LRC). Visit us to pick up an application or access it online HERE. Please return all completed applications to the SSS office or email to https://liquidfiles.dc3.edu/filedrop/dlopez@dc3.edu.  After submitting these materials, our administrative assistant will begin processing your application.  If you are eligible for the Program at that time, you will receive a TRIO SSS Program Offer Letter with further instructions.  

What is a “first-generation” college student?

Neither parent/legal guardian completed a baccalaureate degree.

Why should I become a Program Participant of TRIO Student Support Services?

SSS provides support, services, and guidance to assist you in achieving your educational goals at DCCC and beyond. The Program can help you build on your strengths and address your areas of concern. SSS Program Participants receive personalized support and opportunities not available to other students on campus.

When does SSS accept applications?

We accept applications at ANY TIME; though, we review most applications prior to the beginning of each semester.

Do you accept transfer students?

Yes!

How much time does it take to participate in the TRIO Student Support Services Program?

Our students are expected to have frequent contact with TRIO SSS Program Staff (minimum of 2 Meetings per semester) and are expected to take full advantage of Program services offered. Our Program services are flexible and can be scheduled on an individual basis, once you have received a TRIO SSS Program Offer Letter. Staff members are available by appointment, phone or email, and we encourage visits to the TRIO Programs' office while you are on campus.

If accepted into the SSS Program, will I have to reapply every year?

No. Once accepted into the TRIO SSS Program, you are eligible to participate until graduating from DCCC. Once you transfer to your next intuition, you will need to apply to the TRIO SSS Program at your transfer school.

Does the SSS Program have money for scholarships?

Not at this time. However, we do assist students in locating AND applying for available scholarships.

How can I receive tutoring services?

You can visit the TRIO Programs' main office (located in room 210 of the DC3 Library) to request a tutor through SSS Program Staff OR click here to fill out a Tutor request form and return it to the TRIO SSS Program's office for processing and further instructions. TRIO SSS Program Student Tutor availability varies from semester to semester.

How can I be a tutor for the TRIO SSS Program?

Complete an application through DCCC Human Resources at any time! Please contact the TRIO SSS Program Office for more information.

What are the TRIO SSS Program's office hours?

Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
