Trams

In 2021, Hong Kong's historic street trams were recognized with a Guinness World Record for having the "largest double-decker tram fleet in service." These trams continue to run along the north corridor of Hong Kong Island, passing via the Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, Western District, and North Point. Since 1904, these double-decker buses have been a convenient, economical, and enjoyable means of transportation through some of Hong Kong's busiest thoroughfares.

MTR

(Mass Transit Railway)

It is run by the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL) and includes feeder bus, light rail, and heavy rail services. The 10-line rapid transit network it is centered on serves the urbanized regions of Kowloon, Hong Kong Island, and the New Territories. With about five million rides taken on an average daily, the MTR system is a popular form of public transportation in Hong Kong, operating under the government's rail-led transport policy. It routinely completes rail trips with a 99.9% on-time performance.

Buses

In Hong Kong, buses are common, air-conditioned, and comfortable. The double-deckers are particularly well-liked since their upper deck provides fantastic views of the city below. The destination and route number are shown. Based on the distance traveled, fares are paid at the time of boarding. If paying with cash, precise change is needed. All buses in Hong Kong accept Octopus cards.

Airport Express

The fastest route to get from the city to the airport is via the MTR's high-speed Airport Express, which takes around 24 minutes to reach Hong Kong Island. Major airline in-town check-in services are free of charge at the Kowloon and Hong Kong stations.

Water Taxi

The Hong Kong Water Taxi is the legally authorized water tourism route around the harbor, and it passes by a number of well-known sites, including the International Financial Center, the Avenue of Stars, the West Kowloon Cultural District, the Hong Kong Observation Wheel, and more. Hong Kong Water Taxi can accommodate 170 passengers and has air-conditioned observation cabins as well as spacious open decks.

Ferries

Being a coastal city, Hong Kong regularly runs ferry services between Kowloon, the Outlying Islands, and Hong Kong Island. The fare is paid at the barriers upon boarding and varies slightly between the upper and lower decks, as well as between weekdays and weekends. When buying a token from the pier's machines, passengers have three options for payment: cash, coins or Octopus Cards.

Taxis of Hong Kong

The taxi stand in front of the airport's arrivals hall is a convenient place to find taxis. Within each cab, there is a clear display of detailed information regarding costs and fares that are metered. Three colors are used in Hong Kong to classify taxis, each of which represents a different geographic region. All cabs have access to both Hong Kong Disneyland and Hong Kong International Airport.
