During the time of Exhibition, we discovered quite a bit of information about our topic.
What is 'Spaces for Sports'?
'Spaces For Sports', our topic, represents the issue of people not having equal or available access to space to play any sport or physical activity. So we conducted a survey and found lots of useful information and opinions from people in different communities.
Look how busy HK is. Many of these shops aren't even required.
Why isn't there enough space in Hong Kong?
Hong Kong is a small city full of buildings, so it is very crowded. Which means that there are hardly any leisure spaces. For example, did you know that there are only TWO official HK stadiums?
Some places charge a lot, and they are very expensive basketball, netball and volleyball courts with AC charge $120 per hour! And some are very cheap. Like Squash courts costs $27 for every 30 minutes!
As HK is a small country, it is understandable that their is not a lot of space. Although HK is an efficient country, we have many facilities that we don't necessarily NEED. For example, HK has over 1,600 SMALL sitting parks. It would be WAY better and MORE efficient if we get rid of some of those parks, and replace them with more REQUIRED facilities.
Why do we need Leisure Spaces?
We need leisure spaces mainly because of our health. There are two types of health - Physical, and Mental. We have Physical health so we can build our muscles, to become more strong and active, instead of lazy. We have Mental health to help our immune systems flow naturally, and to not very stressed - as it is bad for your brain.
Leisure spaces are also needed as a way to practice life skills. For example, you have a public swimming pool in your neighbourhood and you go there everyday. Then, one day you fall into the ocean. Luckily, you know how to swim, so you survive. But if you didn't know how to swim, that could've ended badly.
These people are practicing taking care of their Mental and Physical health.
