The main aim of Catering Services at the Diocesan Boys’ School Boarding School is to produce fresh, wholesome, nutritious and well balanced meals for all our boarders. Meals are produced in our own kitchens and so we are in full control of all the ingredients used and hygiene in the production of our meals. We strive to comply with all dietary requirements, and are currently totally nut free; if we need to cater for a specific case of dietary intolerance, we make a special effort to produce tailor made meals for the individuals concerned.

All meals are served in the Boarders’ Dining Hall (a.k.a. Glass Pavilion). Boarding Staff and boarders eat together in the Glass Pavilion, enjoying the full range of the excellent menu in the self-service cafeteria system. Boarders are expected to dress respectably and maintain an air of dignity. No sleeveless shirts or uncovered shoes are permitted at all times in the Glass Pavilion.

Breakfast is served at 07:30, lunch at 12:35 and dinner at 18:30 on school days. In addition to this, Formal Dinners are organised at least once in each month where boarders learn table manner, Guest Speakers are invited to deliver speech from time to time, while some will be in-theme to celebrate festivals such as Christmas and Chinese New Year.

Boarders are expected to attend all meals during the week except by prior arrangement with a member of the Boarding Staff (except lunch for boarders of Grade 8 or above). Boarders requiring a late takeaway meal as a consequence of late sport training or co-curricular activities should apply to the Boarding Staff at least one meal in advance.
