Keep students engaged while they’re at home
Virtual learning can be isolating and disengaging for students. Sitting in front of a screen for hours watching videos may compel a student to fast forward or even skip a lesson altogether. To keep them engaged, open up virtual discussions about what they’re learning. In a lesson exploring the water cycle, challenge students to pause the video and join a discussion in Google Classroom (using the Stream) about the last time they experienced a thunderstorm. You can also use comments in Google Docs and Classroom to have a two-way discussion with students as you give feedback on their work—another great strategy to engage when you can’t see them in person.

· Name of class - e.g. English Year 7 (V); Music Stage 5 (100 hours); Mathematics Year 9 (X)

Note Use both upper and lower case.
ALL TEACHERS ARE TO ADD the subject LEADER OF LEARNING as well as the DIRECTOR OF TEACHING AND LEARNING as a teacher to each Google Classroom created.
Add CLASSROOM CODE TO THE HOMEPAGE of the SUBJECT SITE eg English Year 8
TIP-Although you can certainly upload files created in non-Google applications, such as Microsoft Word, it’s better to use Google Drive’s applications for creating documents if you’re going to be sharing them in this way. No longer we as teachers need to drag docs and presentations manually into folders for instance. Google classroom is a management system ‘Drive users’ have been waiting for.
It is basically a digital platform to assign work and collect work but best of supported by G Suite for Education (formerly called Google Apps for Education.)
Instead of going to Drive and sharing docs, students and teachers doc will be automatically shared within their class. Google classroom also has embedded all the apps in Drive .
Using the power of Search, originality reports compare student work against hundreds of billions of web pages and tens of millions of books. The reports highlight missing citations, ineffective paraphrasing, or unintended plagiarism due to high similarity and link to the external source.
Students can run originality reports up to three times before submitting, allowing them to identify and address citation errors, and saving you time on grading. You get your own report with each submission so you can provide additional guidance if needed.
By ‘archiving’, students can view their classroom and all the content but it is no longer interactive.
