Creating Great Assessment Tasks

How Do We Create The Best Assessment Task?

Some pointers on things you can do:

  • READ THE TASK OUTLINE - What are they ASKING me TO DO? = What am I ALLOWED to do? Hopefully, most tasks will provide us with OPTIONS of what to study or how to present the info - what are those options? Is it group work or individual work?

  • Ask yourself - What are the LIMITATIONS on this task? = Do I have to present it a certain way - like in a Slideshow, a Poster, a Video Interview format? Is there anything I can't do? Is it group work or individual work?

  • Have a look at the Marking Grid/Rubric = these are very important, because they say exactly what the teachers are looking for when they are marking.
