Engaging With Your Child in Careers Conversations

The Turning Point Consulting Q&A Session:

On Thursday 18/06 we had a Parent Online Q&A Session on “Engaging With Your Child In Careers Conversations” with Kathryn from Turning Point Consulting. It went very well and we thank the parents who attended.

Parents attending requested information on how to access the information on the St. Brigid’s Careers Website. Follow the link and it will take you to all the wonderful info on the public page.

For the resume builder and career personality activities available to help you kickstart your conversation with your children, ask the student to access their Hapara Careers Workspace entitled “Term 2 2020 Careers” (for Yrs 9-12). Details for logging in to our Careers Website and the JobJump Careers website are found on the Workspace.

At the top of the Workspace is a link to a Careers noticeboard where I will put some of the docs that parents asked to see as well, under the topic of Engaging With Your Child” along with the JobJump Careers Newsletter.

From the Turning Point Consulting fyler:

"Knowing where to start when it comes to guiding your teenager through subject selection, career conversations and options for life after school can be daunting and confusing. Broken Bay Catholic School Parents has engaged Career Expert, Kathryn Taylor, to create a series of brief videos to help parents get started. These short videos are a must watch for parents of children in years 10, 11 and 12 wondering what's next after school for my child? Click on the images below to watch these clips that will help you get started on the journey and feel free to share with your child!

Tips for Dealing with Exam Stress

When exams are on, your head is full of information that you need to be able to recall and discuss to show a depth of understanding of the course material. The more details you recall and illustrate, the better your results will be.
