During the HSC Course students continue their study of Dance as an artform. Students will study three core components and also undertake an in-depth study of Dance in one of the major study components; Performance, Composition, Appreciation or Dance and Technology.
Course breakdown: Core Performance (20%), Core Composition (20%), Core Appreciation (20%), and students self-select their major study as mentioned above (40%).
Dance is a practical based course where students are given much of their class time to work towards preparing for their final HSC examination. Dance is one of the first practical examinations to kick start the HSC examination process, taking place in the August of each year where students complete 80% of the course, and the remaining 20% of the course is completed at the end of the year with the other written examinations.
Dance offers students the ability to work in a collaborative, vibrant and kinaesthetic environment, allowing students to focus upon applying their skills and talents to an area which is of great passion to them!
The Stage 6 Dance course counts towards receiving an ATAR, and the successful completion of Dance can lead towards entry into TAFE and University Dance and/or Creative Arts courses. The practical, creative and critical thinking skills developed can be applied to a wide range of career paths within the diverse Dance and Performing Arts industries.
