International Yoga Day 2022


Yoga is an ancient spiritual practice that originated in India about 5,000-years ago. It is a great form of self-care; a transformational practice that strengthens the life force within. It is a systematic practice of physical exercises, breath control, diet control, positive thinking and meditation.

Yoga is for everyone. So, let’s be a part of this wonderful celebration of International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2022 at Deshbandhu College and transform ourselves for a better Life ahead.


Department of Physical education and Sports Sciences along with NSS organized an event to celebrate the 8th International Yoga day on 21st June 2022 at 7:30 a.m.in the college Amphitheatre. The event consisted of the Common Yoga Protocol as given by the Ministry of Ayush which comprised of warm up exercises, yoga asanas- standing , sitting and relaxing, pranayama followed by meditation.

The event was led by Ms. Anita Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy, Deshbandhu College, University of Delhi who not only instructed the whole programme but also to elucidated the benefits of yoga for a better Lifestyle.

The Principal, teaching , non-teaching staff and students participated with great enthusiasm. Their involvement and dedication in doing the yoga asanas was noteworthy. They performed the whole designated programme in perfect harmony.

At the end of the event the Principal emphasized the importance of yoga and how we should make it a part of daily life . The proposition of such meetups on a regular basis was also kept to promote a yogic and stress free environment in the college campus. The event was successfully concluded with an impact of mental and physical wellbeing for a healthy Life.
