Program 1

Title: Making Sense Through the Lens

A national webinar was organised on 3rd March 2021, on the topic "Making Sense Through the Lens" by the Department of Philosophy with the apt motivation and guidance from Dr. Rajiv Aggarval, the Principal, Deshbandhu College and with the assistance of Dr. Aditya Saxena of IQAC and the team, Deshbandhu College. It was a webinar based on movie screening and was hosted on Zoom platform. The movie screened was "Anukul" by Sujit Ghosh based on Satyajit Ray's short story. After the screening the two distinguished speakers, Professor Rakesh Chandra from University of Lucknow and Mr. Ajay Brahmatmaj, a senior film critic from Mumbai, gave their lectures interpreting and unveiling the various layers and different perspectives from which the movie screened in particular and films in general can be interpreted or made sense of. The lectures given by speakers were followed by a lively discussion by many participants including students and faculties from the University of Delhi as well as many other Indian Universities.

Program 1

Title: Philosophical Reflections of Yoga

A national webinar was organized on 6th of August, 2020 by the Department of Philosophy and IQAC, Deshbandhu College, University of Delhi, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), New Delhi on the broad theme "Philosophical Reflections of Yoga”. The speakers were, Prof. Balaganapathi Devarakonda, Head, Department of Philosophy, University of Delhi, Prof. Dipti Tripathi, Former Head, Department of Sanskrit, University of Delhi, Dr. Sampadananda Mishra, Director Sri Aurobindo Foundation for Indian Culture, Puducherry, and Prof. Bhagwant Singh, Head, Swami Vivekananda Memorial School of Studies in Comparative Religion, Philosophy and Yoga, Pt. R.S. University, Raipur. Prof. Kumar Ratnam, Member Secretary, ICPR and ICHR, was the Guest of Honour and Dr. Sushim Dubey, Program Officer, ICPR, was the special invitees for the event. It was a well attended program with around 150 participants that includes faculties, researchers, and students from all over India including Delhi on Google Meet platform and several other joining through the YouTube channel of ICPR.

Program 2

Title: Understanding of Sri Jagannath Consciousness


A webinar on the topic "Understanding of Sri Jagannath Consciousness”, was organized by Department of Philosophy with the encouragement of Dr Rajiv Aggarwal, Principal, Deshbandhu College and with the help of Dr Aditya Saxena of IQAC and their team at Deshbandhu College on June 25th, 2020 at 04:00 PM. The lecture was delivered by Dr. S. K. Makbul Islam, who is an Associate Professor of Bengali Litt. and also the Director of Sri Jagannath Research Centre at St. Paul's Cathedral Mission College, Calcutta University, West Bengal, India. In his lecture, Dr. Islam, touched upon many insightful aspects of Sri Jagannath consciousness. It was a well attended session with nearly two hundred participants that included faculties, researchers and students from the University of Delhi as well as other Indian Universities. The session was also attended by some international scholars from Canada and South Africa. The webinar was hosted on Zoom platform for registered participants but it was also available to a larger audience through Facebook Live of Deshbandhu College.
