At the start of the project I started by getting my measurements for the scrap plywood that I chose for my picture frame. Height, Width, and Depth. Once I got my scrap wood measured I downloaded this and once I opened it it brought me to a premade sketch of the picture frame in Fusion 360.
FUSION 360
Once I was in Fusion 360, in the design tab I selected the modify dropdown and I selected the second to last option which was change parameters. In that tab I changed the Frame Height, Frame Width, and stock thickness to be my exact measurements I made prior for my piece of wood. Then I changed the stock height and stock width to be .5 inches more than the frame height and frame width. ex. frame height = 7.75in --> stock height = 8.25in.
Next I switched over to the Manufacture tab of fusion 360 by clicking on the design button in the top left and scrolling down to manufacture. Then on my keyboard I hit CTRL + g to regenerate the tool paths to what we want them to be for the CNC machine.
After that I went to the setup dropdown menu where I selected setup and then selected "Create NC Program". Once on the dropdown for NC program you want to make sure that its posting to CENTROID/centroid and then rename the file to whatever you would recognize. Then click post. After that right click then NC program and click open NC output folder and a pop up should appear. You then want to open chrome and on mail, Gmail, yahoo, etc. send it to a computer that is linked with your CNC machine. And then finally go spay paint your piece of wood.
CNC MACHINE
Once the file has been sent to your computer you want to glue your piece of wood down onto the CNC with tape and superglue. Before running your job you want to make sure that you:
1.) Make sure that the air compressor is ON
2.) Make sure that your job is loaded on the CNC
3.) Make sure your wood is glued onto the CNC
4,5,6.) Make sure that you X,Y,Z are set
Once those are done run your job
POST PROCESSING
Once your wood is off the CNC I went back to chrome and selected an image of what I wanted to have as the picture on the inside of frame. Then I saved the file and moved it to adobe illustrator. After that I traced it and brought it to the Laser engraver. And I laser engraved it into a piece of wood that fit into my frame. Finally I put a layer of clearcoat on the frame itself and once it dried I put on backings and it was done.
