Great News...we had around 300 grandparents throughout the week for breakfast. It was wonderful seeing all the smiling faces of our wildcats as they had the opportunity to eat with their special guests. The Book Fair was bustling with eager shoppers all week. Thank you for supporting our school. Your participation helps provide funding for our library. I can't wait to see all the new books that Mrs. Bryant gets to purchase.
Please see upcoming events below:
Picture Day has been moved to October 30th. Lifetouch has had to reschedule our picture day. Please put this very important date on your calendar.
Make plans to attend our first Family Engagement Event of the year "Time Travel with a Wildcat". The focus of this event is on promoting literacy. Our wildcats will have an opportunity to explore books, enjoy some food (hot dogs and popcorn) and listen to a story retelling of a classic book. Also, we will have a drawing to give away some prizes at the end of the night. So make plans on Sept. 28th from 5:30-7:00. This event is organized in stations so be here by 5:30 so you don't miss the fun!

Counselor's Corner
In school counselor lessons, in the classroom, and on the Friday News we teach self-regulation strategies to all students. Your child has a Social Emotional Learning Toolbox of cards at school with multiple strategies for them to use throughout the day if they need to calm down from strong feelings. You may want to ask your child about the color zones of regulation and strategies like cupcake breathing and 5 finger breathing. Hopefully they can teach you some of the calming strategies they are learning at school. They can teach you a strategy to get from the yellow or red zone back to the green zone. Also, in school counselor lessons, we are currently learning about bullying and how to handle a bully. Sometimes students confuse peer conflict or a mean moment with bullying. But true bullying is when a person intentionally tries to hurt another person repetitively over time and there is an imbalance of power. We are teaching students how to positively handle mean moments/bullying by the STOP, WALK, and TALK method. Tell the person who is not being kind to you to STOP, then WALK away from them, and TALK to an adult. Please feel free to contact me if you or your child have a need I can help you with. I enjoy working with your child at SES!!
