Grants for Teachers: Great teachers are always looking for new ways to expand their instruction and engage their students. Innovative teaching is important--but it can be expensive. Luckily, there are a wide variety of sources available for funding educational initiatives. Grants, fellowships and scholarships are available for teachers who want to help their students. These funds come from all sorts of sources, from the federal government to private companies and charities, and they focus on a wide range of topics. Teaching grants can fund professional development, classroom enrichment, school supplies, field trips and almost anything else that goes into bettering the quality of education.
At North Carolina’s electric cooperatives, we believe there is no more important investment than in our state’s youth. That’s why for 25 years, electric co-ops have offered Bright Ideas education grants to teachers in K-12 classrooms across the state for innovative, classroom-based projects that would otherwise not be possible.
TEACHER GRANTS PROGRAM: The North Carolina Council for the Social Studies supports the essential work teachers do to provide social studies content and skills to our state’s students. The council provides grants of up to $1,000 to help teachers make an even greater impact in their classroom, school district, and community through innovative social studies programs.
Classroom grants can be used for a variety of projects and materials, but not limited to books, software, calculators, math manipulatives, art supplies, audio-visual equipment, and lab materials. Funds must be used within one year of the application deadline.
