In March, 10 students traveled to Washington, DC to learn first-hand about multiple career paths in the government & policy fields. From informative programs at public policy institutes to meetings with alums working in congressional campaign work, students were introduced to many different opportunities and perspectives of what it means to impact change in the nation's capital. The trek included site visits to the American Enterprise Institute, the Center for Strategic & International Studies, the Torrey Advisory Group, the State Department and the Institute for Peace. Students also engaged with Davidson alums at a dinner that afforded them the opportunity to ask questions of and learn from those working in government and policy.
In March, 13 students attended the seventh annual Davidson on Wall Street career trek to experience a firsthand look at some of the country’s top names in financial services. In addition to visiting six firms, students were able to explore New York City and attend a networking event with local Davidson alumni. Several of the 2024 participants have already secured summer 2024 and summer 2025 internships with firms such as Bank of America, Self Help Credit Union, and Wells Fargo.
Organizations visited included: JPMorgan, Wells Fargo, Morgan Stanley, East Rock Capital, and Training the Street.
A group of 10 sophomore, junior and senior students took a portion of Spring Break and traveled to "RTP" in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina to meet with various employers and alumni in the Biotech industry. Students attended info sessions to explore these careers and were able to tour different facilities as well. On the Monday evening of the trip, students were treated to a panel dinner at a local restaurant to learn from and network with alumni. Host sites for this career trek included: Tune, BASF, Pairwise, KBI Biopharma, and the NC Biotech Center.
A group of up to 11 first year-senior students were selected to participate in a career exploration trek to Chicago, Illinois at the end of Spring Break 2024. Students experienced unparalleled discovery, learning, professional development, and networking with employers and alumni in the Chicago area under the supervision of the Matthews Center for Career Development. This career trek empowered student participants to further develop their understanding of the challenges and opportunities in pursuing a variety of careers.
Organizations visited included: AbbVie, Chicago Tribune, P33 Chicago, Rheaply, Sidley Austin, LLP, and University of Chicago.
A group of 10 junior and senior students took a portion of Fall Break to explore careers in technology with local employers in Charlotte and attend a networking reception with local alumni. Site visits for this career trek included: Red Ventures, NTT Data, Lowe's, JELD-WEN, MSC Industrial Supply, and Coca-Cola Consolidated.
The mission of the Davidson Impact Fellowship Program (DIF) is to provide high-impact fellowship positions for graduating Davidson students with key nonprofit leaders at the forefront of critical social issues. DIF empowers postgraduate fellows to create and implement solutions to problems confronting communities, fostering leadership, and promoting robust social change in areas of health, education, policy, social justice and the environment.
