Wind Ensemble

Description

Wind Ensemble is a select concert band of 9th-12th grade students directed by Mrs. Maggie Oates. Assignments will take place and a criteria will be announced. All students interested will audition.

About the Director

Mrs. Maggie A. Oates has been teaching for 15 years, 6 years at Calamus-Wheatland and this is her 9th year at Davenport West HS. She earned her Bachelors of Music Education from Wartburg College and her Master of Arts degree in Music Education from the University of Iowa where she had been accepted as a saxophone performance major.

In her free time she enjoys playing alto and tenor saxophone, flute, and piccolo in the band "Identity Crisis", plays soprano and alto saxophones in the quartet "Saxophone Concept Quartet", playing in musical pits for theaters around the QC, recording for musical pits, theaters, and bands, and teaching private saxophone lessons. Maggie plays for different ensembles upon request. She also enjoys spending time with her husband Aaron Oates, a graduate of Davenport North HS, her son Alexander Oates who is in 6th grade and plays French Horn and Piano at Harrison Elementary, and her daughter Annabelle who is in 1st grade at Harrison.
