Expectations

Communicating clear expectations is essential to creating a classroom that is safe, respectful, and culturally responsive to students. Clear expectations, communicated with empathy in a way that is instructional, not punitive, allow students to "build" behavioral skills that create "bridges" to academic and professional cultures. This also helps students to develop healthy social and emotional behaviors by giving them practice and a vocabulary with which to understand how their conduct effects others and other's conduct effects them.
