Who can attend camp?

All students who are in sixth grade during the 2020-2021 school year will be eligible to attend our Deer Valley outdoor education experience. On rare occasions, a student is not permitted to attend because of disciplinary problems. The decision for a student to not attend will be made by administration.

Parent/guardians of students are invited to attend as chaperones. More information on this can be found on the chaperone informational sheet.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

Luggage must be dropped off at the middle school on Tuesday, October 13 between 3:15 and 4:30 p.m. Students must be dropped off at the middle school on Wednesday, October 14. Students must be picked up at the middle school on Friday, October 16. Students will be transported to and from Deer Valley on school buses. Luggage will be transported on a separate truck. Please make sure luggage is clearly marked with the student’s first and last name.

Cabin Arrangements

Cabins at Deer Valley hold around six students and one adult chaperone. Students will stay with their cabin mates and assigned chaperone throughout the trip. All parent chaperones will have clearances, including Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse Report, PA State Police and Federal Criminal History Record.

Special Medical Needs

The school nurse will be on full-time duty to attend to any medical needs or emergencies. The school’s medication administration policy will hold true at Deer Valley. The district medication policy states that any medication sent to school not prescribed by a physician will not be given. Students are not permitted to carry any medicine on them with the exception of rescue inhalers and Epi-Pen’s. These medicines require a doctor’s order permitting them to be carried. The nurse will give standing order medicines as per emergency cards. A copy of the school board approved medication administration policy is attached for your review.
