Dear Parents,
DAS will be celebrating World Dyslexia Awareness Month (WDAM) in the month of October this year. We celebrate this every year to increase the awareness of dyslexia, to encourage individuals and organisations to embrace diversity, to provide a platform for individuals to celebrate diverse talents, and to raise funds.
We would like to invite you to join us in our celebration this year as it is our 30th birthday and a significant milestone in our history, 30 years of embracing dyslexia! This year, we will be inviting all staff and students to dress up in their favourite book or movie characters in the first week of October, 1 to 7 October 2021. Your child’s educational therapists will be speaking to your child about this during their classes to decide as a class what they would like to dress up in. In DAS lessons, the vocabulary used and the reading and writing activities will be based on the book and movie characters! There will therefore be plenty of reinforcement and certainly great fun as your child learns with the DAS that week! Please encourage your children to join us in celebrating dyslexia and WDAM together!
During this week we hope you can post messages on our DAS30 Celebration Wall for your child’s Learning Centre and help us to celebrate DAS30 and Embrace Dyslexia!
