Therapy intensives, often referred to as "intensive therapy" or "intensive treatment," involve concentrated and extended therapeutic sessions of homogenous groups occurring over a relatively short period. These programs are designed to provide a focused and immersive experience for individuals seeking rapid and intensive therapeutic support. Therapy intensives are available for various mental health and relational concerns, and they can take different forms depending on the specific needs of the individual or group.
Key features of therapy intensives may include:
Extended Session Duration: Unlike traditional therapy sessions that typically last around 50 minutes, therapy intensives involve sessions that can span several hours each day. Some intensives may extend over multiple days, creating an extended and immersive therapeutic experience.
Frequency of Sessions: Therapy intensives often include more frequent sessions compared to standard therapy schedules. This increased frequency allows for a deeper exploration of issues and a more rapid pace of therapeutic progress.
Tailored Approach: Intensives are often tailored to the unique needs and goals of the individual or group. The therapist can adapt interventions and techniques based on the client's preferences and the issues being addressed.
Comprehensive Assessment: Before the intensive begins, there is usually a thorough assessment process to understand the client's background, concerns, and treatment goals. This helps in designing a customized and effective treatment plan.
Various Modalities: Therapy intensives may incorporate various therapeutic modalities, such as individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and experiential therapies. This diverse approach aims to address multiple aspects of the individual's or group's well-being.
Focused Goals: Intensives often have specific, focused goals that the individual or group aims to achieve by the end of the program. This might include developing coping skills, improving communication, addressing trauma, or working through relationship issues.
Please note that insurance does not cover this type of intensive therapy. Your insurance may cover clinical services identified as Intensive Out Patient (IOP) or a Partial Hospitalization Program (PH or PHP); however, please understand that our Therapy Intensives are not synonymous with these types of treatments.
