Hey Y'all! I am Ms. Grant! I am really excited to try some new things in ELA class this year. We will be exploring all kinds of new ideas and ways of thinking as we explore literature together.
I have been teaching reading for 14 years now. I have a Bachelor's in Elementary Education with Highest Honors and certifications in Elementary and Middle School ELA, and I have a GT Endorsement. I'm Read to Suceed Certified. I have several Certifications for Virtual Learning, Flipped Classrooms, G-Suite Products, Schoology, EdPuzzle, and more. I plan on using all of these skills to make this the best possible year I can for you.
I love to paint and play the banjo, guitar, and piano. Hosting the school garden and building the yearbook are also a few extras I take on during the school year. Furthermore, love the theater as well as hiking through the SC forests.

Students are required to spend at least 40 minutes and pass 2 lessons in ELA and Math a week on iReady. Reading is linked directly to the SC READY test and works with students to strengthen personal weaknesses in their learning. *Students who exceed the expectations will be eligible for prizes!*

Student can make a 30 second video introducing one's self and telling about one's interests. You must be in dress code and should not use profanity. The video must be at least 30 seconds.
Dinner Discussion: Please talk to your students about how journalists write stories for newpapers, the internet, TV, radio, and more. Ask them how to tell the difference between a good source of information and a poor source of information.

Dinner Discussion 2: When the quarter is ending, ask your students if they met their goals for the quarter. Did they go up or down on the Growth Tests? You can have them reflect on what they did well and what habits they could adjust for better results. Make a poster of the goals and revisit it with a weekly check in on grades and missing assignments. You could even negotiate an incentive if they reach their goals for the next quarter right before the Holdays!
