CAREERS COORDINATOR

Part-time - 13 hours per week to be worked over two days ideally

Term Time plus INSET days

H8 Point 23-26: £34,434 - £37,280 + £729 fringe allowance FTE (pro rata)

Actual salary: £10,662.34pa (including fringe)

Start date: February 2026

Core Purpose

To work with the SLT Careers Leader and wider middle leadership teams in the provision of the highest standard of careers education for Onslow St Audrey’s students. The role will take responsibility for the delivery and development of our careers programme, ensuring that provision meets and exceeds Gatsby Benchmark requirements providing students with the knowledge and inspiration to make informed decisions about their future pathways.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure the Careers Programme for Year 7-13 is kept up to date, is in line with Gatsby Benchmark guidance and is published on the school website
Provide resources and guidance for Pastoral Leads and form tutors from Year 7-13 for the Careers/Working in the Wider World elements of the Personal Development programme, to include Unifrog training and guidance for checkpoints
Publicise careers information and education to stakeholders as appropriate
Maintain detailed records of pupils’ interactions with the Careers programme via Unifrog and Compass+ platforms
Tailor opportunities to the needs of vulnerable students, those with SEND, and those who are persistently absent.
Use destination data (immediate and long-term) to evaluate the programme and personalise support for current students.
Lead continuous professional development (CPD) for staff to ensure careers education is integrated across the curriculum.
Evaluate impact by collecting feedback from stakeholders and making regular changes to the programme based on these evaluations.

Careers Guidance

Provide careers guidance to students and parents, following the undertaking of the appropriate level of training
Provide information and guidance to students on an ad-hoc basis in response to queries
Manage the use of an independent careers advisor in the provision of:
- - 1-2-1 student interviews to appropriate KS4 and KS5 students
  - Year 9 and 10 tutor group guidance
  - Apprenticeship pathway guidance

Secure advisors for specific post-18 pathways - apprenticeships, arts courses and competitive courses such as Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science and Oxbridge
Organise Mock Interviews for students for post 18 pathways
Work closely with KS5 and 4 Pastoral Leads to monitor destinations and provide additional personalised support to students as appropriate

Work related Learning

Coordinate multiple annual opportunities for students to encounter employers and employees through speakers, mentoring, or enterprise schemes.
Facilitate meaningful first-hand experiences of workplaces for students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
Ensure compliance with Provider Access Legislation by arranging at least two meaningful encounters with providers of apprenticeships and technical education in each key phase.
Ensure students, parents, and staff have access to high-quality, up-to-date information regarding future pathways and study options.
Support subject staff in embedding careers learning into their specific disciplines, highlighting how their subjects apply to future career paths.

Maintaining Networks

Work with Hertfordshire Careers Hub / Careers & Enterprise Company in implementing national policy in school, attending meetings and providing updates through regular updates of Compass+ - the Gatsby Benchmark tracking tool
Manage and utilise the school’s Alumni network, drawing on support from Future First. This includes:
- - Working with Heads of Faculty and Subjects to use alumni to illustrate careers across the curriculum to students
  - Contacting Alumni to request time / videos / resources which will support current students with aspirations (e.g. interview practice) or to provide breadth of careers vision
  - Working with Sixth Form Alumni Prefects to produce a termly newsletter for Alumni
Support the school’s Careers social media accounts in order to publicise careers activities and opportunities and maintain contact networks
Publish a termly newsletter covering key events in Careers Education
