Attendance

Attendance is extremely important to your child's success. Much of what we do in school is cooperative learning and hands on learning which requires discussion and active participation. Many of these lessons cannot be made up. Please schedule all appointments and vacations outside of school hours. Early dismissal Tuesdays are a great time to make afternoon appointments. Check the school calendar to find out which Tuesdays are early dismissals.

Please follow the district sick day guidelines when deciding if your child should stay home. If they are well enough to be in school, they should be present.

School hours are 8:30-3:20.

Your child will be marked late after 8:55am, but it is important to note that the morning routine time (8:30-8:55) helps your child to get ready for the day and should not be missed. Students should arrive as close to 8:30 as possible.

Students should not arrive before 8:30 as there is no supervision prior to 8:30.

Please submit a doctor's note for all absences.

Dismissal Changes

ALL dismissal changes require a written note from the parent or legal guardian. Please include the date of the dismissal change, child's first and last name, and if someone is picking up your child be sure to include that person's full name and phone number. Notes can be accepted in Spanish or Portuguese and we will have them translated. All changes must be sent to the teacher by 12pm. Remember that we are teaching and may not be able to see and respond to messages during learning times. Without notification of a change in writing, your child will be sent home by their regular dismissal plan.

Please be sure the names of all people who can pick up your child are listed in your emergency contacts on the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

When picking up, a photo ID must be shown in order to pick up any child, and the person must be on the approved list of people to pick up your child.

SBA State Testing

In the spring, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders take the SBA test required by the State of Connecticut. This test will be taken on the computer. You will receive a copy of your child's results.
