Ms. Zamanis here. This week, I had my AP Literature students write poems for about their current feelings.
I wish I didn't count the days
"I wish it was over", I'd agree
Every time I think about it, I say no way
Crazy to say school is now the only place I'd rather be.
Before this we would have called a board game lame
On the bright side, we all stay at our address
And when its all over we will come to miss our window frame.
With all the bad, there's a lot of good, no need to stress

Everyday now is a day spent hating.
Another day another big speech,
People are told to be isolating,
Yet they gather at stores and the beach.
Not a single store seems to draw the line,
People hoard enough to match a skyscraper.
But I guess I will accept this as fine,
Just please leave me some toilet paper!
Nicholas Huff
I sit at my desk trying to think of a rhyme
For a poem that is optional for school
Unexpectedly, this is taking a good amount of time
I am realizing that I am turning into a fool
I write words down on an empty page
Noting the first things that come to mind
My brain soon becomes empty, this fills me with rage
A scrawny brute I’ll become without school, I find
Jackson Capitano
nothing is happening in my life right now
boredom reigns supreme
and to it i bow
hoping it's all a dream...
i've always dreamed of isolation
but not in this way
reality has lost its motion
why won't it come back to stay

Twas the Night Before Remote Learning
Twas the night before remote learning, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, except clicks from my mouse.
A new virus in our world, has provided such a scare,
That the shelves in the grocery store have all been stripped bare.
The students, now excited to spend more time in their beds,
While visions of late night gaming sessions played on in their heads.
Both teachers and students, most living in sweats,
Enjoying all the extra time they get to spend with their pets.
When out from the news station, there arose such a clatter,
Mandatory lockdown in effect! Such a serious matter!
Towards my remote, I flew with a flash,
Nothing on but stories of people losing jobs and their cash.
With information arising so fast and so quick,
This couldn’t possibly be another political trick!
The seriousness of the situation becoming ever clearer,
Could the end of the world truly be nearer?
The world is still moving, just stay far from others,
To protect our at-risk, grandfathers and grandmothers.
Our new way of living is tough, we all can be sure,
But keep the faith, hunker-down, and don’t demur.
Now I’m stuck here at home, no hope to go out,
What shall I do? Just sit here and pout?
No! I yell, in that deep, sultry voice.
I must find other ways to express my free choice!
I still can go out, and live a full life,
Or spend time indoors, alongside my wife.
As long as I am sure, to hold on to my nerve,
I can be certain, I will flatten the curve.
Eventually, like bears, we will leave our hibernation,
Exit our homes and take a much needed vacation.
Continue to do your part, no matter how stressful,
Infection rates will fall, and we’ll all be successful.
Take heed to my words, and don’t be moronic!
It’s the 21st century plague, let’s not turn it bubonic.

I've been keeping really busy supporting our prospective and incoming families through phone calls and emails. We shifted our schedule planning meetings for the class of 2024 course selection to an online process. We are now working on developing a method to connect prospective students to current Spartans through an online Hangout until we can get our Shadow Days back on track. We are also hoping to develop a virtual campus tour, online Q&A forums for prospective families and ongoing social media content to keep our school community connected.
