Theatre Department

The Theatre Department offers a diverse range of High School courses that immerse students in various aspects of the Performing Arts, including acting, puppetry, film, and ensemble studies. These classes culminate in a dynamic onstage final production, allowing students to apply their skills in a professional setting. Middle and High school students also have the opportunity to participate in the annual mainstage Spring musical, while Technical Theatre students take charge of building sets, designing costumes, and creating props for all productions. To nurture a love for drama from an early age, the department offers an after-school Drama Club for First Program students, encouraging young performers to develop their talents in a supportive and creative environment. Students in the Theatre Department are deeply involved in every stage of the theatrical process, from the concept phase, to designing and constructing sets, costumes, and props, all the way through rehearsals and final performances. This hands-on experience allows them to understand and contribute to the full creative journey of a production. The students at CDS are thrilled to be part of such a vibrant theatre program, where their artistic voices are heard and their creative visions come to life on stage.
