Set Design

Set Design

Set design is an important key to the musical, Swamped. Opening the world to a painting drawing picture perfect art room. While the students are hard at work, the teacher Mrs.Eberly helps them get their painting supplies.

Mrs. Eberly is the main teacher in this PEP. She is on top of the class. She is making sure everyone is creating all the decorations for the set so it is perfect for the musical. But Mrs. Eberly made time to answer most of my questions. Something new Mrs. Eberly said she had experienced was lots of different types of creativity with her PEP students. Mrs. Eberly’s students get along with each other and work collaboratively. This PEP started because they needed students to make the set for the musical. This is the first year for set design as a PEP. The most important part in this PEP is making the set pieces and the finished product. When asked if she would add or change anything about her PEP, Mrs. Eberly answered, “I would add more space and fewer students.”

I also interviewed Ella Kellander, Anya Rayburn, and Natalie McLane in set design. They are amazing at what they do. Ella said, “I make flowers. I cut out each shape for them.” However, Natalie states, “Mostly, I help out with painting.” Anya, on the other hand, says, “I make props for the set.” Each student has their own role to play. When I asked them “what's something new you have experienced?” They said, “Painting different things and learning new ways to paint.” Ella explained. “I have been painting lots of different parts of the scenery.” Natalie answered. “Making lotus flowers,” Anya exclaimed.

Do you think these students get along with people in their PEP? This is how some of the students responded. “I get along with others and I share most of my supplies,” Ella said

“Everyone I work with I get along with if it's painting, drawing, and helping out,” Natalie shared

“Yes, I share and use kind words,” Anya replied.

When asked about the most important part of this PEP, Ella responded, ''I make sure everything looks perfect for the set.” “It is important to make sure everything is good to go for the set,” Natalie said. Anya came back wanting to “help the special needs kids be more included with the musical by making the set for them.”

When I asked the students in this PEP what they would change, Ella said, “I would like more people for everything to go faster.” Natalie replied, “I would want more supplies, more helpers to get things done efficiently.” “I would add more set objects,” Anya added.
