A Super Sudie Shout Out to Will K who played in the USCF National Middle School Championship in Atlanta this last weekend! He played in a very competitive U1100 division and won 4 of his 7 matches. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! 

Elementary Chess

Congratulations to our Elementary Team! 

20 Sudie players played, and 18 Sudie players earned medals! Sudie Chess once again earned the most total medals and the most GOLD medals of all schools! Since we went 5 rounds, only 10 gold medals in total were awarded, and Sudie won 4 of those 10!

Our 5th Grade Team placed 1st and 4th Grade Team placed 2nd!

Middle School Chess

Our Middle School Chess Team competed in the District Championship last Saturday. 20 Sudie players played, and ALL 20 Sudie players earned medals! Sudie Chess also earned the most total medals and the most GOLD medals of all schools!

Congrats to the Sudie Elementary Debate Team!  

At their recent DISD tournament the 5th Grade Debate placed 2nd place overall out of 35 teams!

Individual Awards:

• Rose and Faye received silver medals for being top speakers.

• Aria, Ezra, and Sofia received gold medals for being top speakers.

• Garder received a gold medal, placing 8th overall speaker out of more than 100.

• Richard received a gold medal, placing 5th overall speaker out of more than 100.

• Henry won "Most Valuable Debater" from Sudie and received a gavel.

Special thanks to Ms. (Rathbun) Pantalion! As a first time debate sponsor, she led this team to place in the top three at both debate tournaments this year - 3rd in the Fall and 2nd in the Spring!!

Middle School TMSCA State Results

TMSCA State took place in San Antonio on Saturday, April 13. Our school competes in the largest division in Texas, 6A. All the students who attended had to qualify to compete. Below are our great results!

Out of about 40 schools, 91 teams, and nearly 300 debators, our 5th Grade Sudie Lions placed 3rd overall! We had 4 teams competing, and they all contributed to that placement. 

Individual awards were also given to students who demonstrated strong speaking skills and scored well in that area. 

Receiving silver medals were Aubrey S, Rose B, and Mallory S. Our gold medalist was Arnav D. 

We had two members rank in the top ten of this category—Gardner F and Ezra D. This was their first time ever competing in debate!

DISD Spelling Bee

Alex won the Spelling Bee for all of DISD.

He qualified for the Regionals competition later in January.

Oncor Kid's Race

Congrats to Landon L, Julien K, Lila T, Maddie E, Lucas G, Fiona W, Bailey G, and Cora T for running in the Oncor Kid’s Race in December! There were about 6,000 kids who raced this weekend. We are so proud of them pushing themselves and finishing strong!
