A Newsletter for Families of Solar Preparatory School for Girls
A message from Principal Santos...
As we head into another exciting week at school, we first want to wish a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms, grandmothers, and mother figures in our community! Thank you for the endless love, support, encouragement, and care you pour into your children each and every day. We are so grateful for all that you do and hope you feel celebrated this weekend!
We also want to extend a huge thank you to all of our families for helping make Teacher Appreciation Week so special last week. Your kind notes, donations, treats, and support made our educators feel incredibly loved and appreciated. We are so thankful to partner with such a generous and supportive community!
Thank you as well to all of the parents and volunteers who helped make our PreK–2nd Grade Lemonade Day such a success last Friday! We appreciate all of the time, energy, and support that went into creating such a fun and memorable experience for our students. Be sure to see below for details about our 3rd–5th Grade Lemonade Day happening this Friday!
i-Ready testing will also be taking place this week. Please be sure to check the calendar below for testing dates and reminders. We encourage students to get a good night’s sleep, eat breakfast, and come ready to do their very best!
Awards ceremony season is upon us! We are excited to celebrate our students and all of their hard work and accomplishments this year.
Our AAPI potluck celebration is this Wednesday, May 13th! We would love for you to come out and join us for some delicious food and a beautiful showcase!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The Solar Peace Pantry is a volunteer run on-campus food pantry that serves the Solar community. We are looking for volunteers to help us staff shifts on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 and Sundays from 12-2 PM and for volunteers looking for a regular, at home gig (running our Sign Up Genius, helping with communications, etc.). This is a deeply rewarding volunteer opportunity and we welcome anyone within the Solar community - if you can only pick up a shift or two per year, great! If you know a grandparent interested in helping the school, we love it! Here's a link to our upcoming Pantry shifts and here's a link to our Volunteer Survey with positions open next school year. Please email SolarPantry@gmail.com with any questions. Big thanks to you all!
👚👖 UNIFORMS/ATTIRE: Click the uniforms button below to purchase house shirts, Girl Scout shirts, spirit shirts, and uniforms.
We would LOVE your help appreciating and celebrating our staff! Any staff member who you see making a difference (big or small) in our school community would love to hear your words of affirmation. This link is always made available on BrightTimes to give shoutouts throughout the school year. We especially want to put it front and center this week! Staff members receive these shoutouts through our staff newsletter, and they brighten their days. Thank you for taking time to shout them out!
All of our weekly staff shoutouts will now be linked on this Quick Links button for you to view!
Do you know someone interested in attending Solar next school year? Our parent tours have begun! These tours are a chance for prospective families to see what makes SOLAR so special. We will host tours every Tuesday morning at 8:00am. If you know of anyone interested in joining the Solar family for the 2026–2027 school year, please share this link to our SignUpGenius.
