Q: How many college classes will I take each year?
A: P-TECH | There is 1 class in 9th grade, 3-4 in 10th grade, 6-8 in 11th grade, and 8-10 in 12th grade.
Q: What happens if I don't earn an Associate's Degree by the time I graduate high school?
A: If you are committed to obtaining the Associate Degree, you can continue to take courses and graduate over the summer.
Q: What happens if I fail or get a low grade in a college class?
A: You can retake a course for which you did not receive a passing grade. We encourage students to make every effort to pass all classes the first time because retaking multiple classes can lead to you not graduating with the Associate Degree by the time you graduate high school.
Q: Can I still participate in extra-curricular activities like athletics, band, etc.?
A: P-TECH | Yes! Since P-TECH is located on the Seagoville High School campus, students have access to extracurricular activities. Keep in mind, however, that balancing the course load required to complete the P-TECH course of study and participation in extracurricular activities can be a challenge. This is especially true for 11th and 12th grade years.
Q: What kinds of grades do I need to make in middle school to qualify for these programs (ECHS, CTE ECHS, P-TECH)?
A: There are no minimum grades required. We are looking for highly motivated students who are interested in the career paths we have to offer. Our focus is on helping students find success in college and career by completing an Associate Degree by the time they graduate from high school.
Q: How much do these programs cost?
A: There are no costs to the students.
