Cynthia Flores

Office of Transformation and Innovation

This year marks Ms. Flores’ 18th year in education. She spent 8 years in the classroom as a 2nd grade self-contained teacher, 3rd & 5th grade RLA/SLA, 5th grade self-contained, and lastly as a 6th grade math teacher. Ms. Flores then transitioned into an all-content campus instructional coach where her campus achieved double-digit gains on all STAAR contents and grade levels in her first year of service! Ms. Flores has spent the last 6 years as a K-12 Math ILC, and it is during her time as an ILC that Ms. Flores has become a huge enthusiast and proponent of Montessori education. Recently, Ms. Flores completed the Montessori Administrator Overview Training at Gulf Coast Montessori in Houston, Texas.

Jennifer Miner

Downtown Montessori at Ida B Wells Academy

Maria Montessori knew best when she said that “The hand is the instrument of intelligence.” Hands-on learning is what best helps children spark curiosity and helps them develop natural interests. This way of thinking and teaching inspired Ms. Miner to become a Montessori teacher more than 20 years ago. She earned her AMS credentials in Lower and Upper Elementary from Barry University in Miami.

At the beginning of her teaching career, she gained much of her experience at a private Montessori school but spent the better part of 16 years teaching public Montessori in Dallas, TX. Ms. Miner feels that she has the best job in the world at Downtown Montessori. This position allows her to support our teachers on their Montessori journey, present new lessons to students, and be an advocate for the Montessori program with her team. This is as close as she’ll ever get to living the dream as a Montessorian at heart. Her passion for Montessori has shaped her into a life-long learner as she continues to participate in and present at various Montessori conferences.
