CO-OP, INTERNSHIPS, & EDMENTUM COURSES

Co-op: Cooperative Vocational Education Program (Co-op) is an optional school-to-work learning experience available to juniors and seniors.  In order to participate in the Co-op Program, students must first apply for the program and be accepted. This also means abiding by the training contracts, Employer expectations, and fulfilling all course expectations.  Being involved with the Cooperative Vocational Education Program allows the student to have a work site that he/she will provide, with on-the-job training.  In addition to having release time of 15-20 hours for work per week. Juniors can use up to two blocks of their schedule for the Co-op program and seniors can use up to four blocks. 


Internships: Internships is an optional internal school-to-work option available to juniors and seniors.  The internship program involves applying for an intern position.  The student works with a mentor teacher for 1 class period and receive an equal amount of credit as if they were taking school courses.  The internship program is designed to provide positions matched to the student’s career interests.  


Online Edmentum Courses: THS offers additional courses to students as electives through an online program, Edmentum. Students are able to expand their knowledge in fields of interest and take elective courses during the school day. These courses are wide ranging and cover additional areas of interest such as Forensics, Cosmetology, Digital Photography,  Biotechnology, Marine Science, Women's Studies, Mythology and Folklore, and many others. Students enrolled in these classes will pay a $75.00 fee (excluding students who qualify for free and reduced lunch). There course are for Tremont credit only and students can only earn a max of four credits through Edmentum.  Use the link to view the Edmentum course offerings
