It is our intention to complete the first ten chapters of the textbook, although we will go at a pace that is appropriate for this class.

Homework Policy
HOMEWORK:
The purpose and intention of math homework is for practice. Math, much like playing a sport, requires upkeep and practice so skills are not lost or forgotten.
Nightly, (with the exception of Friday) your son or daughter will have math homework (practice).
Homework (practice) should take no more than 30 minutes a night. If you are finding that a particular assignment is taking your son or daughter more than 30 minutes, please stop them and jot a note in the assignment notebook.
With our new curriculum and the curriculum requirement of teaching to mastery, homework may not always be a worksheet. In the event there is not a formal homework sheet or workbook page assigned for homework, I still expect students to be practicing math.
5th Grade Accelerated Math
This year we will be using the Big Ideas Math Program that has been adopted at Lincoln. The program incorporates a number of components that allow for differentiation to make sure that all students are successful and challenged, depending on their needs.
