1. E-mail Mrs. Murphy: when you call your child in sick or relay a vacation to the office, the office does not forward this information on to the teachers. Unless we hear from you, we do not know the reason for your child's absence that day. It is the parent's responsibility to communicate to individual teachers that their child will be missing class time & class work. Please cc: me (smurphy@d57.org) when you send your homeroom teacher any e-mails regarding absences, so I am aware also.
2. Materials:
3rd & 4th grade math workbook is in our Google Classroom (classwork tab). The textbook needs to be picked up from the office, if it isn't in your child's backpack.
5th grade textbook (Big Ideas) is online through Classlink, but not the journal. That would need to be picked up from the office.
Worksheets: I will leave any hard copies of worksheets needed in the office for you to pick up by 4:00pm (office closes).
3. Missing work: on your child's Math Google Classroom (scroll down to sample below) I list what we covered in class "Today in class..." and "Homework". Both of these items should be made up at home (I do not have "office hours" in my schedule to "catch up" students for absences).
•DO "TODAY IN CLASS" items FIRST with a parent, then finish with the HOMEWORK assignment.
VACATIONS: It is very helpful to be notified of planned absences a few days before the absence, so I can gather materials together to send home. I will send home a hard copy checklist of what work to do, if you send prior notification. They can write their work/answers onto looseleaf if working within the textbook or if you're unable to print off workbook pages.

Check your child's Google Classroom "STREAM" for the day's work & homework. DO THIS WITH YOUR CHILD, please, to check for their understanding.
