WORK POLICY

5TH GRADE CLASSWORK POLICY

We believe learning to use time wisely is an important part of becoming an independent and responsible student. Students are expected to stay focused, participate actively, and make good use of classroom learning time. Students who are engaged and using their time appropriately should generally be able to complete assigned work during the school day.

If work is not completed during the allotted class time, students may be expected to finish it at home and return it the following day. This expectation helps students develop important skills such as time management, organization, responsibility, and independence. These are skills that will become increasingly important as they transition to junior high and beyond.

While we do not assign traditional homework, at-home practice is an important part of reinforcing learning and building strong academic habits. At-home practice may include reading, practicing math facts or skills, reviewing concepts, or completing unfinished classroom work. Our goal is to help students develop the confidence and independence they need to take ownership of their learning.

 WHEN CLASSWORK WILL BE ASSIGNED:

Classwork may be assigned Monday through Friday.  Sufficient classtime will be given to complete assignments.  

STUDENT’S  RESPONSIBILITIES:

Students are expected to do the work on their own and only ask for help after they have given it their best effort.  All assignments must be written neatly and turned in on time for full credit.

PARENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES:

Parents are the key component to fostering a positive attitude towards school for their children.  To make learning and growth a top priority, parents need to provide necessary supplies, reflection and discussion on daily lessons, and provide praise and support.  Please check and initial assignment notebooks daily to see what we learned during the day.
