2nd Grade

10/20/17

2nd grade has been doing so many things in music class. We have been reviewing how to read LA on the musical staff. Just remember--SO and MI are copycats. If one is on a line, the other is, too. LA is the cool older sibling who likes to do the opposite. We will be reviewing a little more, and have a LA assessment next week.

We also have been reviewing keeping the steady beat in a song. We played a circle game similar to "Hot Potato" where you pass the object to your neighbor--only you have to pass on the steady beat. Our listening ears needed to be ready for this game!

9/29/17

2nd grade has been reviewing ta, ti-ti, and rest, using many sorting and composing activities. We just took a test to finish out our week with ta and ti-ti. I played a rhythm on the woodblock, and students had to choose between two rhythms. This is not only helping their reading skills, but this is helping their aural (listening) skills as well.

We will be moving on to finding LA on the musical staff next week.
